Chapter 3891: Seeing The List
Chapter 3891: Seeing The List
Lu Yin stared into the empty space in front of him. Even though he had not seen the face of the Great Master, their sincerity towards humanity had been made abundantly clear. The Great Master was another whose perspective surpassed that of a single megaverse.
The conversation with the Great Master had cleared many of Lu Yin’s doubts.
If Yong Heng had betrayed the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, how had he been able to cause so many problems in the Tianyuan Megaverse? While he had never been directly supported by Master Qing Cao, Yong Heng had still relied on the Immortal.
The reason why no one from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse was allowed to enter the Tianyuan Megaverse was due to an agreement with Master Qing Cao, who was an Immortal.
As for the relationship between the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and the other three megaverses, Lu Yin had an image in his mind. There was no hatred, merely survival and destruction. Everything was founded on the vastness and the danger of the Aevum Inch.
Despite having three Immortal powerhouses, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had still faced the threat of total destruction on more than one occasion. For the Tianyuan Megaverse to survive, it was not possible to rely on the Nine Odysseys Megaverse; it needed to be self-reliant.
Lu Yin had not made the wrong decision. It was impossible to quickly raise the Tianyuan Negaverse to the level where it would have the strength to preserve itself, as that would require it to surpass even the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Instead, he had first traveled to the Spirit Nidus and was currently in the Nine Odysseys Megaverses, fighting for his home’s survival.
Only by becoming an Immortal would he truly possess the qualifications to represent the Tianyuan on a larger scale.
The Great Master had been absolutely correct. Whether or not the Tianyuan Megaverse would be reset did not depend on the Nine Odysseys Megaverse itself, but rather on what happened within the Aevum Inch. Of course, if one day his power level surpassed that of the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse, he could reverse this relationship.
“Senior, your communication device.” Lu Yin threw the tool over, and Li Guo caught it.
The old man returned, quite curious about Lu Yin’s recent call. “What did the Great Master say? That was a lengthy conversation.”
Lu Yin said solemnly, “We discussed the purpose of life.”
Li Guo was left speechless. “If you don’t want to tell me, then forget I asked. Let’s go.”
Lu Yin glanced around, and then asked, “Senior, regarding that skeleton, has Deathmound really not been able to find any clues?”
Li Guo shrugged. “None at all. The three major clans have been openly investigating it, and they’ve also hired many unsavory individuals. Secretly, my Deathmound has also been conducting an investigation, but we haven’t found a single thing. It’s too strange.”
Lu Yin looked up at the sky. If not even the three Greater Sancti could find that skeleton, then it would be nearly impossible for Deathmound to find anything.
To those who knew about its existence, the skeleton was like a blade hanging over their heads. It was a deadly threat.
The memory that Lu Yin had once seen of the dark, endless plaza and the skeletons reappeared in Lu Yin’s mind. He could not help but wonder if the three Greater Sancti had ever seen that image.
Even if they had not, if that skeleton truly represented an existential crisis, then the human Immortals must have seen similar scenes. How else could they be certain that the skeleton represented such a danger?
Also, it seemed that the death of the Immortal who had been the source of the manifested thought that had eventually become Yue Ya was related to those skeletons.
Lu Yin bade farewell to Li Guo and left Thoughtless Mountain. He headed straight for the West Domain’s skyswings. He was going directly to the East Realm’s Seventh Night Pillar.
After all, he would be witnessing the reset of the Orchid Megaverse, which would be overseen by the Seventh Night Pillar.
Once Lu Yin was gone, Li Guo took his communication device back out and called the Great Master again. “He’s gone.”
“What do you think of him?” The Great Master’s voice returned.
Li Guo took a moment to consider the question. “He’s domineering, but he still has principles. He is deeply devoted to his Tianyuan Megaverse and will never abandon his goals. He repays grudges and is genuinely a man of his word.”
“That’s a very fair assessment.”
Li Guo replied, “He isn’t a petty villain or a bad person, but he is also not a good person.”
“A good person? How many ‘good people’ are there in the cosmos? Simply not being a bad person is already the highest praise.”
“Can you invite him to join Deathmound?”
“No, and I won’t.”
“Why not?”
“Deathmound is too small for him.”
...
In the East Domain, a frightening bloodlust covered the sky above the Seventh Night Pillar. The land nearby was covered in dry, hard earthen shards and iron-like trees. A powerful heartbeat echoed beneath the ground, where the Morrow Behemoth slept.
From time to time, people would arrive at the Seventh Night Pillar after traveling great distances, each of them needing to suppress their excitement as they arrived.
People arrived from all regions of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse; these people would be allowed to witness the Orchid Megaverse’s reset. Each person was either the greatest genius from their home region, or someone who had accomplished something of great significance.
Additionally, the people who belonged to the Seventh Night Pillar itself would also be allowed to observe the reset.
This was a privilege given to the Seventh Night Pillar. When the Orchid Megaverse had been defeated, the Seventh Night Pillar had been the one to lead the Nine Odysseys. Subsequently, any tasks concerning the Orchid Megaverse had also been carried out by the Seventh Night Pillar. Those were the reasons why not a single person had left the Seventh Night Pillar after it returned to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse; everyone had been given the opportunity to witness a megaverse being reset.
This was knowledge that Lu Yin had not discovered.
The Fifth Night Pillar had wanted to capture the Allsense and report their existence so that they would have the opportunity to eventually witness a megaverse being reset, just like the Seventh Night Pillar. If not for that privilege, there would have been no need for the Azuresword Sovereign to humiliate himself by trying to stop Jian Hong.
On the Seventh Night Pillar, Lu Sizhan held a birdcage in his right hand while absentmindedly staring in the direction of the Four Commands Sword Sect. He had never imagined that he would one day be given the chance to watch a megaverse be reset.
He should never have even succeeded in becoming the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster. Without that title, he would have never been able to earn the qualifications to witness a reset on his own merits. It was all because of his daughter that his life had changed. Ah, how troublesome.
In the distance, Wan Lou was also feeling rather bitter. He had never intended to travel to the Orchid Megaverse, but he had been forced to go to the Seventh Night Pillar by Ming Xiaolong. She hoped that, by witnessing the reset of a megaverse, her sect master would receive the help he needed to reach the Heaven and Earth Changes level of mastery.
He knew that that was impossible. There was no direct correlation between witnessing a megaverse’s reset and breaking through to the next level of mastery in Heaven and Earth Aura. Still, Ming Xiaolong had insisted that Wan Lou at least try. There was nothing he could do.
Beside Wan Lou stood Ming Xiaochou, who had also traveled here from Everchange Valley.
There was no denying that Ming Xiaolong wielded a tremendous amount of influence.
Further away, Luo Ning was looking towards the North Domain, his expression complex and his eyes filled with sorrow.
Si Jiushi was relaxed. He was also present at the Seventh Night Pillar. He had accompanied Lu Yin through the West Domain. He knew that Lu Yin had been looking to make trouble for the Cheng family, but he had fled as quickly as possible. He had intended to return to the North Domain, but he had been unwilling to see his despicable Uncle Lang Ruyu again, which had prompted the fat man to consider traveling to the South Domain. However, after a bit of thought, he had realized that that was not the correct direction. Lu Yin had visited the East Domain, the North Domain, and the West Domain, which indicated that his next destination should be the South Domain. With that, Si Jiushi had decided to return to the East Domain.
Upon arriving in the East Domain, he had received a message from his master and been asked to travel to the Seventh Night Pillar so that he could witness the Orchid Megaverse’s reset. Si Jiushi had been thrilled to receive the order, as it was an amazing opportunity for him.
Originally, he would have never enjoyed such incredible luck, but the older members of the Five-Palm Sect had caused plenty of trouble recently, which made it difficult for them to travel to the Seventh Night Pillar. Additionally, everyone was aware of Si Jiushi’s close relationship with Lu Yin, and since the Seventh Night Pillar had not refused, the fat man had joined the expedition.
Going to the Orchid Megaverse would be great. He would witness a megaverse being reset, enjoy a small breakthrough of some kind, and get far away from the calamitous star that had been haunting him. It was perfect, simply perfect. The more that Si Jiushi thought about his situation, the happier he became. He had no idea how long the trip would take, but he would finally be able to breathe easy again.
Just as he was thinking about it, a blood-colored light spread towards them from the distance, drawing most people’s attention.
“Is that Greater Sancte Blood Tower’s power?”
“That’s Wei Heng.”
“Wei Heng? I remember that name. Greater Sancte Blood Tower accepted him as a disciple a thousand years ago.”
“He’s also called Xue Lian.”
Many people at the Seventh Night Pillar started chatting as the blood-colored light drew closer. Eventually, it stopped right before the Night Pillar. Beneath the blood light stood a young man, his face an unnatural red color and his eyes cold. He carried a massive, hooked weapon.
Someone from the Seventh Night Pillar stepped out to welcome the man and escort him in.
Si Jiushi looked away. He had identified Wei Heng’s location, and so he distanced himself from the man.
Of the three Greater Sancti, Greater Sancte Awe Gate and Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s disciples were approachable, but Greater Sancte Blood Tower’s disciples were a different matter. All of them were battle maniacs.
Just as the fat man was thinking about this, the sky turned green in a different direction, startling people. “Is that... Jing Lian? Is he also coming?”
“He’s one of Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s disciples, and he was also accepted about a thousand years ago.”
“I’ve heard of him. I’ve heard that he...”
“Is completely shameless.”
As soon as they finished speaking, they saw a giant green lotus blossom in the distance, stunning the countless people who saw it.
A handsome young man stepped out of the green lotus, light radiating from behind him as though there were multiple blue swords piercing the sky.
The eyes of everyone on or near the Seventh Night Pillar were drawn over, and they stared at him blankly.
The man revealed a faint smile, looking at the Seventh Night Pillar with a gentle gaze as he slowly walked towards it. He moved through the sky in an elegant manner, appearing to be humbling himself, like a god descending upon mortals.
“I am Jing Lian. ‘Jing’ means purification, but it can also mean respect. ‘Lian’ is the lotus of a single lotus, and it is also the lotus of Greater Sancte Green Lotus.” His words echoed throughout the entire region.
Suddenly, a blood-red light tore through the sky, slicing at Jing Lian.
The man instantly grew enraged. “Wei Heng, it’s you again! How dare you attack the sacred lotus?”
“You shameless fool! Get down here!”
“You’re the shameless one, you brute!”
As the two spoke, blue and red light clashed and intertwined, filling the entire sky as they competed with each other for dominance.
Si Jiushi pursed his lips, impressed. Both men were peak powerhouses, and yet their combat strength forced even those with greater cultivation to look up to them. These men had succeeded in becoming the disciples of the Greater Sancti. Such a fate was enviable.
At that moment, sword intent swept through the sky, slicing apart both the red and blue light.
Gu Duanke’s voice rang out, “Both of you, please cease this quarrel. You are at the Seventh Night Pillar.”
The blood-colored light retreated, and Jing Lian gave a contemptuous snort. He quickly adjusted his clothes and then bowed in the direction of the Seventh Night Pillar. “Thank you, Senior Gu Duanke, for driving that brute away. I have arrived.”
Jing Lian’s arrival caused the Seventh Night Pillar to grow quite lively. Many people visited the man. Despite his thick skin and self-proclaimed title of being Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s most talented disciple, he was still a Greater Sancte’s disciple. Even if he was only a nominal disciple, he could still visit the Sea of Karma at any time. That was enough to grant him an impressive status.
However, Jing Lian paid a visit to someone: Venerable Lan Ye.
Lan Ye was a very special existence, especially since the Orchid Megaverse was about to be reset.
Everyone knew that he had been born atop an orchid leaf and that his body closely matched the miasma of the Orchid Megaverse. When he had previously visited that megaverse with the Seventh Night Pillar, participating in the expedition to defeat the Orchid Megaverse, Lan Ye’s cultivation had surged to the peak Dukkhan realm. With the Orchid Megaverse about to be reset, he was regarded as the expert closest to becoming an Immortal.
For that reason, it wasn’t just Jing Lian—everyone who arrived at the Seventh Night Pillar wanted to visit Venerable Lan Ye. Even those who were not on the list to witness the reset stopped by to visit the man at the Seventh Night Pillar.
The people from the Temporal Heavens who had been invited to witness the reset never stopped arriving.
Even though Venerable Lan Ye had been defeated by Lu Yin in the East Domain, that loss did nothing to affect his popularity.
After he broke through to the Immortal realm with the help of the Orchid Megaverse’s reset, he would become the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s fourth Greater Sancte. He would then stand above everyone else, which would render his previous defeat insignificant.
During the ten years since the Seventh Night Pillar’s return, everyone had heard of how Venerable Lan Ye was held in extremely high regard by the Greater Sancti. He was the person who had made it the closest to the Immortal realm throughout the countless years, and his connection to the Orchid Megaverse meant that it suited him perfectly, regardless of his combat strength.
After being defeated by Lu Yin, Venerable Lan Ye had not left the Seventh Night Pillar, and he had also refused all visitors.
However, he could not refuse to meet with Jing Lian. The man was one of Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s disciples, and he had even traveled to the Seventh Night Pillar to visit Lan Ye, showing his sincerity.
