Chapter 1081: Land Contract
When the contract was established, it actually succeeded.
“!!!” Nathan couldn’t help but widen his eyes.
“It went through?” Vivian widened her eyes in shock.
“It went through.” Nathan nodded while squinting his eyes. There was no difference from the forest, except for the fact that Nathan could see a faint white curtain gradually appearing before his eyes.
He realized this curtain was none other than the world’s recognition of his possession.
“So, this means this forest is yours?” Bella asked. She was probably the one who hadn’t experienced the Soul Contract directly, so she was the most confused among them.
Nathan, on the other hand, leaped into the air and kept kicking the air to stay airborne. However, he made sure he went inside his territory, passing through the curtain as though it was nothing but a projection of light.
“Do you see anything here? I just passed through it.” Nathan waved his hand as if implying there was a curtain in front of him.
“No,” Bella shouted from a distance.
“How about coming here? Don’t come too fast in case of an unexpected situation.”
All three exchanged looks before leaping into the air. Once they stood before him, they looked around, wondering what Nathan could see.
“Is it here?” Vivian frowned while trying to find the curtain.
“Yes,” Nathan acknowledged after seeing Vivian’s hand pass through the curtain. “From the looks of it, it looks like I can’t stop anyone from entering this domain, right?”
“Maybe it works like the kingdom’s territory? It is recognized by the kingdom, but at the same time, the kingdom can’t stop the people from entering it. They can only mobilize their own army to protect what they claim to have.”
Nathan fell into deep thought as though he had come up with another ridiculous explanation.
After one more minute, Nathan came out from behind the curtain and formed another contract.
“With the contract as the core, Nathan will give 100,000 to the contract in order for the contract to become the core of a magical vein. The magical veins function as underground energy channels flowing through the soil and a source of vital energy (ena).”
The contract itself succeeded with no problem. Once he had the ‘core’ of the magical vein, Nathan landed on the ground. “Can any of you create a hole?”
Vivian snapped her fingers. The ground trembled slightly as a tree root emerged before going back down, leaving behind a small but deep hole. “Is this enough?”
“Yes.” Nathan nodded and tossed the contract inside.
As he would expect, the contract remained the same. “Do you see any change?”
“No.” Vivian and Evelyn shook their heads.
“Can I get the contract back?”
“Sure. But what are you doing?” Vivian picked it up using the same root.
Once Nathan got the contract back, he walked inside the curtain while saying, “I’m still figuring it out.”
With Nathan’s gesture, Vivian dug another hole. However, the change began the moment Nathan tossed the contract into the hole.
“Hmm?!” Both Evelyn and Vivian widened their eyes. “This is…”
“What’s wrong?”
“The ena is flowing… I can see it flowing in almost all directions except for this direction.” Evelyn pointed in the direction outside the curtain.
“As expected!” Nathan nodded in understanding.
“What are you talking about?”
“I find the meaning of land ownership. It works similarly to what the kingdom has now. With the ownership, we are still required to protect our territory. However, gaining the ownership means we can exploit our land however we want.
“If we want food, we create farmland. If we find mineral veins, we mine them. In other words, this ownership simply allows me to change the nature of this territory.”
“Oh!” Vivian paused for a moment. “This means the magical vein itself is a success, right? And from the looks of it, the ena has stopped flowing. It looks like the core is keeping a certain amount of ena to make sure it has enough ena to channel the rest of the energy.
“But the problem is… the core doesn’t replenish the ena itself. At one point, the ena will be exhausted.”
“Yes.” Nathan nodded. “That’s why the contract itself lasts for a certain time. This way, even if I pass away from old age, the contract will continue until the allocated time.”
For Vivian’s familiars, this meant a lot because it would be in effect even after Nathan passed away. For Vivian, this meant Nathan was thinking about his future descendants. 100 years was just a trial. Someone like Nathan would probably have 1,000 years at the very least for a contract.
Once the world tree grew, he could then form another contract that might even last for tens of thousands of years until the tree ceased to exist.
Evelyn noticed something even more absurd. “Does this mean you can create an ore out of nothing? Just create an iron vein or something with that contract?”
“Hmm…” Nathan remembered an explanation from another story. “Not entirely. However, what if the stone is being exposed to the ena for a long time? Wouldn’t the stone experience a similar transformation like the magical plants? Plants and minerals. These two alone can provide a massive amount of revenue.
“We don’t have to worry too much about money for the time being. Instead, how about trying to plant something on this small piece of land first? Let’s see if it’s possible to create a magical plant to sell.
“Last but not least…” Nathan formed two contracts while taking out a magazine.
“With the contract as the core, Nathan will pay 50,000 ena to alter the time of this small plot of land with an area of 3×2 meters by 50 times for a year.”
“With the contract as the core and the magazine as the medium, Nathan will pay 50,000 ena to receive immunity from time alteration up to 100 times acceleration for the one possessing the magazine.”
The first contract was the beginning of his domain, while the second contract was the key to not being affected by that domain.
Fortunately, both contracts went through.
“50 times acceleration means that 1 day inside this plot of land will be the same as 50 days outside. We still have about three weeks before leaving this continent. It should be enough to grow a magical plant, right?”
“Enough for at least 5 magical plants.” Vivian nodded.
