Chapter 1150: Word Game
Chapter 1150: Word Game
Vicente and Kong entered Barraz territory, almost instantly alerting the local forces of their arrival.
Of course, they couldn’t say exactly who or when the enemies noticed them, but they were prepared for part of the local forces to show themselves to them at any moment. With thoughts focused on distracting the enemies for Mylecent and Jelgos’ action, the two moved forward at a steady speed, both with calm expressions, as if they hadn’t just invaded the territory of a high-level Transcendent.
They knew roughly where the core of this domain was, but they didn’t head straight for it. Their trajectory was set in a direction that would put them, at the critical point of their path, one kilometer away from the place where Barraz was supposed to be in seclusion.
When a group of silhouettes formed not far from them, coming from the southern direction, where the core of this domain was, the two acted ’with’ surprise.
They stopped their flight suddenly, then raised their guards defensively.
Neither of them said anything as their expressions changed, their eyebrows knitting together and veins appearing on their foreheads.
The individuals who had shown themselves to them first, low and mid-level Transcendents, didn’t raise their voices at first either. That’s because, when they looked at Vicente, they felt the most impressive Sorcerer’s aura they had ever felt in their journeys!
It didn’t take long for Barraz’s group of subordinates to understand who Vicente was.
The chosen one of Hell!
Watchful eyes changed shape, going from shock to interested smiles.
One of Barraz’s Devil underlings, a 4-Star creature from the 10th stage, stepped forward from his group and opened his mouth, speaking thickly. “You’re Vicente Fuller! What are you doing in these parts? Looking for opportunities, young son of darkness?”
Vicente’s name was already famous throughout Hell. Coming into contact with him would be a great chance, either to kill him and prevent the emergence of a super-powered Devil of the caliber of Lothur Ritter, or even to have the chance to ally with him and study his powers.
Most infernal beings would definitely seek to eliminate Vicente. Even without enmities and even if there were no guarantees that he would one day be a problem, just because of his potential, eliminating such an unusual variable would always be the safest course of action.
For negative beings like the Devils and those they controlled, killing was the most common and natural course of action.
However, there were definitely those who would like to keep Vicente alive, even if only for a short time. Investigating his origins and understanding why he was different would appeal to many certain Devils.
Barraz was a unique figure, powerful, hostile, decisive, but also curious and aware of his own ignorance. His subordinates knew him better than anyone and immediately sensed what their master would want to do with Hell’s chosen one.
’This person is right in front of us! Killing him would be the best thing to avoid future problems, but the master will like to be able to study him!’
’By having access to someone with such an affinity with darkness, the master will definitely be able to make progress in his current seclusion!’
The strongest of the group smiled as they focused on Vicente, almost completely ignoring Kong and the careful manners of these two newcomers.
Vicente said in response to the first person’s question, “Well, my companion, Kong, and I are looking for opportunities. I don’t know who the master of this domain is, but because of the region we’re in, we risked crossing this area to reach the place we’re looking for.”
“I hope we haven’t disturbed any seniors in seclusion around…” Kong said in a tone mixed with respect and a touch of confidence.
If they didn’t know where they were, they couldn’t be overly humble. But being arrogant wouldn’t be right either, given the strength of just this first group to appear in their path.
“What is this place you’re going to?” The same Devil at the head of the group asked as he narrowed his black eyes. He didn’t care how ignorant or daring this pair were to come into their master’s territory. First of all, he needed to better understand what they were after.
Vicente pointed out, “It’s not in your group’s domain, you can rest assured of that. We just didn’t want to take any chances with the disputed areas nearby… The situation around here is pretty chaotic.”
Vicente felt his heart beating faster, playing the game as best he could to avoid the suspicions of these individuals.
Kong broke out in a cold sweat. Although he was confident of confronting the group in his path, the reinforcements that would come if anything extreme happened would be something he couldn’t handle. Given how sensitive their plan was, any slip-up could be fatal!
The enemies listened to Vicente and didn’t suspect any hidden plots. In fact, the surroundings still had plenty of chaos. After all, this region of Hell had been where much of the recent war had been concentrated, with countless creatures vying for the best domains left behind years ago.
Not by chance, Mylecent’s domains were nearby, but also those of Barraz, who had got something precious not so long ago.
As for the opportunities in the region, they were still many. In the distant past, a great Devil, even more prominent than the current Lothur Ritter, had held the inheritances of the Law of Darkness and Law of Death, and had been the lord of these hotly contested areas.
As such, treasures and opportunities there were no strangers and much still needed to be investigated before anyone had the courage to ignore the region and its possibilities.
“We can make a deal with you, if that’s in your interest.” The Devil said, negotiating with the pair, interested but aware that these two wouldn’t give any more details easily. “Ah, what a silly mistake.” He laughed as his tone suddenly changed. “This one is called Ezen. I’m a humble lackey of the lord of these lands.” He gestured with his arms, showing the surroundings.
“Please accompany me to my lord. I’m sure Devil Barraz will make you an offer you can’t refuse, Young Prodigy Fuller. We’ll be able to help you achieve your interests for a small price.”
That wasn’t exactly an invitation. The tone and words seemed friendly, but it was clear to everyone in the area that this was an ultimatum.
In a place where the law of the strongest prevailed over everything, appearances didn’t mean anything!
Implicitly, everyone knew that this was a veiled threat: ’do what we’re suggesting, or bear the consequences!’
And, as it should be, Vicente smiled bitterly as he looked at Kong, unable to give an answer other than the one he was expecting.
“In that case, Brother Ezen, guide us to Senior Barraz. We look forward to hearing your proposal.”
They moved on, completing the first part of the infiltration!
