Chapter 184: The First Sin Is Honesty

Chapter 184: The First Sin Is Honesty

Evil is a matter of perspective.

It only seems ugly when it’s projected onto someone else. Embrace it, and it reveals itself gently—like petals in shadow under moonlight, like that first deep breath after years of holding it in.

There’s no monster here—just you, finally speaking the truth.

ROARRRRR!!!!!

The sound echoed through the realm, a mere projection of memories—deep and guttural, rattling the very fabric of the vision until its edges wavered and rippled like water disturbed by a stone. Ash turned, finding himself face to face with the Third Cycle.

Watching it in memories was one thing, like viewing a film he could only learn from afterward. But standing before it in the flesh was an entirely different beast.

Quite literally…

Despite the dread churning inside him, Ash swallowed it down and smirked.

“AHHHH, how scary!” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he mocked the Dragon—hands thrown up in fake terror, eyes wide in exaggerated fear, his tone slicing through the roar like a blade.

The Second Cycle burst into loud, unrestrained laughter, the sound echoing across the memory-realm like thunder chasing lightning.

“I knew it!” he laughed, pointing at the Third. “I told you, this kid doesn’t take kindly to anyone trying to trample on him.”

The Dragon exhaled sharply through his nose, dark essence spilling out like smoke—thick black tendrils curling outward, carrying the scent of ash and finality as the air around them grew heavier and colder.

“Such a weakling, with such a smooth tongue.” The voice was like the end itself—low, resonant, each word tugging at the fabric of reality, as if speaking them might unravel the listener from time.

“Weak, my ass… I bet your peak isn’t much to brag about,” Ash said, gesturing toward the figure—one who had also seen the end.

It growled understanding the analogy… Ash smirked.

“Oh, the beast truly learned something from you, didn’t he?”

The Second Cycle continued laughing for a while before he stopped.

“Alright, let’s get on with this.”

The memories kept unfolding as the three of them shifted their focus to the Dragon of Absolute Endings.

Once it gained sentience, the Dragon had only one goal—seeking greater power. The Second Cycle had long since written off this incarnation as a failure, much like himself. So, he simply watched.

The Dragon lived by two simple rules: first, to do nothing but bring ruin, and second, to never take on a humanoid form—if a place couldn’t contain his vast presence, then it had no right to exist.

From that day on, he consumed world after world, race after race, and eventually entire galaxies and universes.

Countless races, clans, and forces rose against him.

Even after facing the Dragon Progenitor and the Dragon of Eternity in deadly battles, he never yielded, staying true to his nature.

Through all the chaos and ruin, Ash grew numb to it all until one question lingered in his mind.

“Why?” he asked. “Even after becoming Cosmic Overlord, gaining sentience… why keep living like this?” It wasn’t out of sympathy—by now, he understood that with power, the only right thing was whatever you desired.

He could see that after becoming a Cosmic Overlord, the Dragon had started seeking a way beyond. By the end of the third Cycle, so many civilizations had fallen to him that he was left with nothing and no one but enemies.

Every Dragon had orders to flee or kill on sight.

This meant that, except for the Progenitor or the Dragon of Eternity—who would stop at nothing to destroy him—any dragon would run. Other races had similar orders against him, and for ten more cycles he lived either in solitude or leaving destruction in his wake.

The Dragon studied Ash for a long moment, finding no trace of sadness or remorse, only genuine curiosity. Knowing Ash would learn the truth eventually, he spoke.

“Because… it’s my nature,” the Third said before continuing.

“Most people resist the very things that make them whole… even after gaining sentience, my nature is Ending. For as long as I’ve lived, the one thing that has driven me is power and the act of ending.”

Ash nodded, a touch of clarity settling over him.

“Nature, huh?” he thought as the Second’s voice echoed in his mind.

“It’s kind of ironic… the Dragon of Absolute Ending ended up bringing about his own ending too.”

The memories shifted to the 21st cycle. For the last 18 cycles, the dragon had lingered in the Lower Dimension, reigning at the Peak of Cosmic Overlord. Ash had witnessed his outrageous life—one most would call evil, demonic, and dark.

He’d watched civilizations, galaxies, entire universes crumble in a single bite.

Yet, through all of this it could not move forward.

No matter how far he searched, even venturing into the uncharted voids, he never found the path forward. Whether it was because he had only enemies or because no one truly knew, he remained still.

Yet, in this Cycle, he and his long-time rival found themselves thinking alike.

The Dragon of Eternity and the Dragon of Absolute Endings… two sides of the same coin. What if they were one supreme Dragon?

Perhaps then they could surpass even their progenitor….

And so, without telling a soul, the Dragon of Eternity and the Dragon of Absolute Endings met, clashing in a battle that would decide both their fates.
