Chapter 1195: Void Fragments
Chapter 1195: Void Fragments
The Void Region is how Klaus expected it to be.
Gloomy, eerie, and everything that screams danger.
“These places always give me the creeps,” Hanna said, walking beside Klaus and her sisters.
Within the Void Region, there are no green plants around. In fact, from the moment they stepped in, the ground turned stony, and the air inside was filled with a toxic gas.
However, despite the air being anything but breathable, someone like Klaus and his wives, who had already set out on the path of Evolution, would not find it difficult to survive inside such a place.
The apocalypse came with so many benefits. Initially, one could not breathe in space, let alone walk and fly there.
However, thanks to the spiritual energy now filling the air, Klaus and everyone who had started walking the evolution path could easily do that.
So, entering a region covered by the void without taking oxygen is not something that will kill them. There is still spiritual energy in there that will help them breathe for months, even years.
“This place is indeed creepy. It is like it had been abandoned from the dawn of time and has only recently started to recover.” Klaus looked ahead and saw a mountain — the first they’d seen since arriving on the green planet.
“We were first attacked a couple of miles after we crossed this mountain,” Kathy said as they approached the mountain.
Suddenly, a message appeared before Klaus’s eyes.
⟪You have absorbed a Void Fragment. Current Void Fragments: [01/99]⟫
‘Oh, did I step on a moth?’ Klaus lifted his leg, but he saw he had not killed anything that warranted why he had absorbed a void fragment so suddenly.
‘Icon, what is going on?’
⟪The master must know that the deeper you go into the Void Region, the more potent the void energy. Just know you passed by a void fragment, and so it was absorbed into your body.⟫
‘So this means the deeper I go, I don’t only have to kill voidlings before I can level up the void law.’
⟪Yes, master.⟫
‘This is cool then.’ Klaus let a smile appear on his face as they moved deeper. About 200 meters away from the mountain, another message appeared.
⟪You have absorbed two Void Fragments. Current Void Fragments: [03/99]⟫
The smile on Klaus’s face widened.
“So, ladies, when you entered the Void Region, did you happen to naturally absorb something called Void Fragments, or was it only after you started killing the voidlings?” Klaus wanted to see something.
He was no longer using the systems the apocalypse gave every warrior, so he was not walking the same path as everyone. This meant he was destined to have different experiences.
So, seeing he started gaining Void Fragments from merely walking in the void, he wanted to see if the same happened to his wives…
“What are Void Fragments?” Instead of answering him, Vida asked a question with a puzzled expression on her face. Hanna and Kathy had the same look on their faces.
“Wait, you ladies didn’t absorb Void Fragments. How then did you gain Void Affinity and level up your affinity to the adept stage?”
Klaus also became puzzled.
He expected them to at least know Void Fragments from the kills they made, even if they hadn’t absorbed some in the air.
But it seems this is their first time hearing about this.
“Whenever we kill a voidling, a message announcing our kill appears. Then, after that, there is a message that says, ‘You have absorbed Void Energy from your kill.’ It then shows a percentage of how much more we need to level up.
At the moment, I am left with 32% to gain High Affinity of the Void Law. Hanna and Vida are left with 28% to reach the High Affinity level.”
Kathy explained, and Klaus seemed to finally understand.
‘Looks like their system is lacking compared to mine,’ Klaus felt his happiness return. Now, he seemed to have finally seen why the Paragon System was perfect for him at this stage.
‘At this rate, learning and leveling up the Void Law wouldn’t be too difficult then.’
Klaus chuckled inwardly and turned to Kathy. “Thanks for the explanation. Because I am not using the traditional system, I was a little confused about how things work here.”
The ladies nodded.
Soon, they reached the mountain and started climbing. It was about 500 meters tall, so reaching the peak wasn’t too hard.
“Wow, looks like there is danger ahead,” Klaus exclaimed when he saw the dense, foggy void stretching far ahead. In this foggy cloud, he could see red lightning flashing within.
Even from far away, he could sense the danger from this lightning. They were several thousand miles away, but he could still feel it.
“We didn’t go that far the last time we were here, so we can’t tell what those lightnings are made of. But we can sense the danger,” Hanna said, looking at the ominous lightning beating the ground thousands of miles away from them.
“Let’s go. The mission is to level up our Void Law and gain as much as we can before leaving. If we can make this place good for training before leaving, that will be fine.
We have ten years to do that, so we should get started early.” The ladies nodded and began descending the mountain.
Klaus had yet again absorbed three more Void Fragments, bringing his count to six out of ninety-nine. Still a long way to go, but Klaus was positive that soon, he would be bathing in Void Fragments.
Soon, they had climbed down the mountain and began heading deeper.
After advancing a few meters, a figure appeared forty meters away from Klaus and his three wives.
⟪You have discovered a Wraith⟫
⟪Void Wraith Soldier⟫
⟪Race: Nihorath⟫
⟪Rank: Nether (Tier 14)⟫
⟪Description: A Wraith formed from the fragments of the void. They exist eternally and can only be permanently killed when their Void Fragments are absorbed…⟫
‘Oh, so that’s it, huh?’ Klaus smiled, knowing he had been wrong about one thing. There were no Wraith King or Queen, just Wraiths. The king or queen was the whole region itself.
This meant there was both good news and bad news. The bad news was that if he killed every last Wraith, this place would become virtually useless. However, the good news was that the void might create new ones later, after he was gone.
He was leaning more toward the former, but he couldn’t help wondering whether this place was eternal.
He put his thoughts aside and focused on the Wraith.
It was a tall, humanoid figure wrapped in shadowy tendrils. It was about three meters tall and ghostly. Its body appeared semi-transparent, as if made of condensed void energy.
Naturally, that was true. It was made from Void Fragments, so its body was virtually a condensed form of the void — the purest form.
This was also why the ladies managed to gain law affinity and level up from killing them.
It had no visible mouth, which was eerie, but then again, Wraiths were eerie. Its eyes glowed a void-white, contrasting with its pitch-black form.
‘Looks creepy to be around.’
Klaus pointed his finger at the Wraith, who also noticed them and moved at great speed toward them.
Golden lightning tore from Klaus’s fingertip and blasted the Wraith into nothingness.
