The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

Chapter 1198: Void Rune

Chapter 1198: Void Rune

Like Hanna said, the deeper they went, the more Wraiths they found.

Klaus and his ladies were, of course, happy for the abundance of Void Fragments/void energy they were being blessed with. The fact that Klaus and his ladies got more to kill was to their benefit.

So far, Klaus and his ladies have discovered that the Wraiths come in different shades of eye colour.

The Nether stage Wraiths have white eyes, while the Domain stage Wraiths have blue eyes.

Aside from that, they have discovered that the deeper they went, the stronger the Wraiths became. Even the Nether stage Wraiths became much stronger.

However, Klaus noticed that, aside from their sonic attacks becoming much stronger, their nearly transparent bodies were also growing more translucent. Obviously, they were bound to meet much stronger Wraiths soon.

“Three more are coming from our east, and two Dominion stage Wraiths are also approaching from the west,” Hanna said, looking deep into the void.

Klaus and her two sisters nodded…

Klaus picked the Domain stage Wraiths while she and her sisters picked the Nether stage ones.

Soon, messages appeared before his eyes.

⟪You have absorbed 11 Void Fragments from a Tier 15 Wraith.⟫

⟪You have absorbed 11 Void Fragments from a Tier 15 Wraith.⟫

⟪You have absorbed 11 Void Fragments from a Tier 15 Wraith.⟫

⟪Current Void Fragments: [340/399]⟫

“Finally,” Kathy said, a smile painting her face as she looked at the notification hovering before her eyes, telling her she had reached ’High Affinity level’ for Void Law.

Of course, even if she didn’t see the message, just the feeling and strength coursing through her body told all there was to know.

“Congratulations, love.” Klaus moved toward her and planted a kiss on her forehead. She smiled and allowed herself to be pampered.

“Congratulations, Kathy,” Hanna and Vida congratulated their sister, who had taken a much deeper step into mastery of the Law of the Void.

“Has anything changed?” Klaus asked, and Kathy first looked at the messages that appeared. A few seconds later, she smiled.

Her spear appeared in her firm grip, then she turned toward a mountain three miles away. “Watch this,” Kathy said, pointing her spear forward.

Klaus, Hanna, and Vida focused on the spear, watching as dark void energy swirled around it. The more void energy that swirled around it, the more deadly a feeling only Klaus could sense emanating from the spear.

He is the Heir of Death, and now that he is on the path to becoming the Lord of Death, he can tell what is deadly and what is lethal.

Kathy’s spear checks both boxes.

Klaus paid closer attention to the spear, and just before Kathy unleashed a piercing stab, he saw a faint rune, causing Klaus’s eyes to widen.

Of course, the beam that fired from the spear blasted a large gaping hole through the mountain. However, that is not the reason why Klaus widened his eyes.

“Did I just see a void rune?” Klaus asked, and Kathy nodded, her expression a little pale. Klaus first pressed his palm against her back and channelled his energy into her, instantly helping her to recover.

When her expression softened, she revealed what had changed.

“It seems my [Void Piercer] skill can now deal 3,000 times more piercing strike. As you saw, blasting holes through a mountain is now possible.”

BOOM

Just when Kathy said that, the mountain she blasted the hole through came crashing down. The entire mountain fell, becoming rubble.

“Point of correction, I am now capable of bringing down mountains.” A grin formed on her lips as she gazed at Klaus as if asking if he was impressed.

“That was amazing, but tell me more about the rune.”

Klaus had seen a void rune before. It was one afternoon, just when he managed to escape the ambush of immortals and was steadily making his way toward the location he and the Paragon Guards had planned to meet.

However, just when he thought he was in the clear, one last immortal proficient in the art of Void Law blocked his path and blasted him with an attack that contained Void Law.

Klaus (Magnus) had defended against many such attacks; however, this one came as both a shock and a lesson.

The last thing Klaus saw and heard before being trapped in the void for 400 years was, “Die by the power of my Void Rune.”

After managing to escape and fighting his way back to safety, Klaus started researching the void runes. What he found was rather shocking.

It turned out the void runes are as rare as a paragon paying respect to the heavens. Out of a million, only one person will have a void rune.

This discovery caught Klaus’s curiosity, so he sought out this immortal for a rematch.

As a paragon, Klaus wanted to have a counter for everything. However, this one void rune ruined him for thousands of years.

In the end, he had to stop and admit he wouldn’t have a counter for it.

Just now, with the void rune appearing in Kathy’s attack, a memory from his 7th incarnation popped up.

Kathy smiled at Klaus for a few seconds before asking a question, “Looks like you are still obsessing over Void Runes, huh?”

They started out as enemies but eventually became friends. The immortal who had kicked his ass many times simply because he never found a counter for void runes is Kathy – her incarnation, of course.

Klaus smiled bitterly… “Long time no see, Layla… or should I call you Forehead?”

Kathy pouted.

She had received her memories months back. Of course, this was possible thanks to her limited time in Klaus’s life. However, she was happy to have finally recovered the memory of how she and Klaus met.

Now, it seems Klaus had also remembered.

“I already told you to stop calling me that,” Kathy said, throwing a playful punch.

Klaus laughed, catching her hand and then pulling her in for a hug, “In my defence, you had a rather disproportionate forehead back then, so it only warranted that name.”

“Tch, I think you are just jealous I trapped you in the void and even defeated you a couple of times.”

Hanna and Vida, who knew what was happening, smiled. They were already aware of the dynamics between Klaus and them.

Vida had already started recovering her memories. Hanna had already received hers, so it wasn’t a shock to see that Kathy had recovered hers also.

However, they couldn’t help wondering what kind of forehead Kathy may have had to warrant such a name from Klaus.

“Just don’t think I will be merciful now that I am yours. If you try, I will give you the same ass whopping I gave you the last time,” Kathy said before putting her head on Klaus’s chest.

Klaus, of course, believed her. After all, a void rune makes all her attacks undefendable.

Whenever she uses the Law of Void in her attacks and applies the [Void Rune,] no matter what defence one raises, it will all be useless.

That is a dangerous boon. However, it consumes a lot of void energy, so continuous use is not possible. However, just one attack meant to kill will kill, and if meant to trap, will trap.

Klaus was trapped for 400 years back then,

“Now that I think about it, you never told me why you didn’t go for the kill but rather trapped me in the void when we first met.”

Hanna and Vida widened their eyes.
