Chapter 3236: Generations of Biotechnology

“He is strong despite using a tiny fraction of his full power,” A Mother of Nature whispered in the depths of the flora network. “It is alarming that he has found a low-effort solution that completely negates one of our most common means of defense.”

“We will have to formulate defenses against this new solution,” another Mother of Nature mused. “We cannot allow such a fundamental flaw in our defenses to remain. Not even the evolutionaries have ever developed such a creative solution against us.”

“Sound-absorbing wood, perhaps.”

“There are species of flora whose leaves absorb sound. Perhaps we can create a multi-layered defense system with those leaves. We can update the DNA of the Genoran Plant Kingdom in the next generation of biotechnology.”

The dark elves of Genora did not undergo a continuous change in biotechnology but in discrete generational transitions.

The reason for this was simply logistical in nature.

Updating the genes of hundreds of trillions of trees on the continent was extremely difficult after they had already matured, even for the dark elves who harbored great control of their continent.

Thus, they synchronized the lifespans of a vast majority of flora species on the continent, and implemented all genetic improvements to their botanical biotechnology every twenty years in a grand update. Each generation of biotechnology contained incremental, systematic, and fundamental upgrades to its biotechnology after studying the previous generation for years.

“He is helping us by showing us these solutions,” one Mother of Nature mused knowingly. “His adaptive evolution is different from the evolutionaries who adaptively evolve with genetic mutation. He relies on his powerful mind, brimming with cognition and information, as well as extraordinary control over his power.”

“He knows what he is doing,” another Mother of Nature realized. “He also knows that what he is doing is helpful to us in the long run. The Genoran Continent is impregnable in its anti-surveillance measures, which means that it is merely showing us elves our weaknesses rather than any of our enemies. Better we learn about it in such a circumstance than in war.”

“He must be mindful of the fact that we are watching,” another Mother of Nature noted. “I imagine this is just a sort of ’gift.’ Although nobody except for us would regard it as such.”

“For now, let us simply keep observing his adaptive evolution to our Nature Path.”

The Mothers of Nature attentively watched with curiosity as Rui headed deeper and deeper into the Forest of War, encountering stronger and stronger dark elves.

BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!

He dashed about in the air as he evaded and defended against the destructive attacks of the dozens of dark elves that he had run into, each stronger than the one he had faced before. His Martial Heart flared with power as he began speeding up to his maximum, trying to evade multiple jungles’ worth of explosive vegetative tissue.

This time, it wasn’t just the wood, but also the leaves that could become weapons, turning into poisonous, razor-sharp blades that could pierce even his skin.

“Surround him!” a dark elf woman at the very forefront shouted as they coordinated their flora manipulation, trying to get him with sheer volume, even if they couldn’t keep up with their speed. “Attack him and overwhelm him with numbers!”

BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!

Rui’s pupils dilated as he faced greater and greater pressure from the dark elves and their immense destructive power.

FLICK FLICK FLICK!

Razor-sharp leaves began cutting his skin and flesh as the explosions of wood began scalding and singeing his skin. Even with the speed that the Martial Heart gave him, it wasn’t easy for him to skywalk through the air, evading the myriad of attacks that converged on him.

At this rate, it wouldn’t be long before he would end up being caught.

BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!!!

The dark elves expertly coordinated their nature manipulation as they began closing each and every single escape route in the skies, boxing him in within their depths as the wood began encircling him.

More and more dark elves of great caliber joined to reinforce their flora manipulation to crush him within the depths of the wooden prison they had formed for him.

“We got him!” the dark elf leading the attack exclaimed. “Now explode together!”

BOOOOOM!!!

The dark elves heaved a sigh of relief as they lowered their guard.

“Cough… Cough…”

Their eyes widened as their attention returned to him as he emerged from the smoke.

“Not bad.”

Their eyes widened as they gazed at his darkened skin.

“Not bad at all.”

His skin was blistered with the heat of the combined explosion of many Senior-level attacks all focused on him.

“Even with Nemean Blossom, that kind of hurt. But you see…”

WHOOSH

In the blink of an eye, the wounds disappeared as a smile emerged on his face.

“This sort of wound is far from enough to put me down, you know?”

They stared at him stunned.

The dark elf at the very front gritted her teeth. “Once again! Attack!”

Nothing happened.

The dark elves grew alarmed and confused as the flora from down below on land refused to adhere to their commands.

“What…” the dark elf’s voice began shaking. “What is this?”

“Surprised?” Rui ask them, raising an eye. “It’s a new technique that I created. Or a new application of an old technique, rather.”

“…what?”

“With my SOUL System I could estimate what frequency of signals you guys use to manipulate your flora,” Rui replied patiently and helpfully. “Once I figured that out, it was a simply matter of creating a heavenly domain barrier with flowing charges that creates an electromagnetic field that interferes with your communication with flora, cutting you off entirely.”

The dark elves gazed at him with shock.

“I call it Faraday’s Silence,” Rui replied. “It is a domain that is designed to crush your flora manipulation, rendering you entirely obsolete. Now you are no different from the average elf.”

The dark elves simply gazed at him with horror as he easily shut down all their power.
