Chapter 1915: Cap 1911: Determined to run away… but no…
“That’s a Fallen Lord of Chaos…” (Davoth)
“What did you say that was?” (me)
“A Fallen Lord of Chaos…” (Davoth)
I saw the fear in Davoth’s eyes as he repeated that name. He wasn’t scared even when facing the Infernal Creatures, but he was afraid of this thing; that alone was enough to make me look at it seriously.
“Damn it! This was the worst possible time!” (Davoth)
“We have to reunite with the others, now!” (Davoth)
I wanted to know more about the enemy, but from the way his eyes wandered, it seemed like he was contemplating a plan or analyzing something in his mind. For both our sakes, I just hope he’s thinking of something useful since he recognized that thing.
“Why is it still?” (Me)
“He’s not standing still, he’s recovering while simultaneously breaking the remaining seals and restraints on him, the chains that were still attached to his limbs.” (Davoth)
“This buys us some time, but not enough. We need to reunite now!” (Davoth)
Looking at where the creature still stood, even from a distance, it was as if I could see that thing as if it were right next to me, because it was distorting space like my vision.
The chains, rings, and some necklaces attached to his body were vibrating intensely, some even showing cracks.
Worms were also appearing on his body, destroying them before being absorbed by the darkness of his robes.
The worst part of all was realizing that those two pairs of eyes were still glued to me as if there were no distance between us.
That thing will definitely come after me. I can’t let that happen. I won’t give up without a fight. My instincts were burning for survival like never before.
We soon advanced together against Sarazar’s enemy. It was that bird resembling a Phoenix from legend. But as we approached the battle, ready to attack the Phoenix, suddenly the bird looked at us, then looked at the center of the space where the thing was. The Phoenix’s aura emanated utter fear and dread, reflected in its eyes, before turning toward me.
“I will come again. I already know your presence and Aura…” (Phoenix)
“< Art of Origin Flames: Dimensional Invasion >” (Phoenix)
Suddenly, flames formed a tornado, through which the Phoenix launched itself without looking back. That tornado of flames was burning the space, like the power of reality itself, breaking a passage out of this space, which only lasted long enough for it to escape.
No one could stop it, but after that, everyone else approached. Lolth approached with Igor and his group, Sarazar approached beside Davoth, who was helping him heal from the burns on his body.
“Where’s Niryna?” (Me)
“She left before that thing was summoned; she couldn’t have intervened in this event.” (Igor)
Even if she’s not here, at least I know she was okay. In fact, seeing this whole situation started to raise some doubts. A huge puzzle was forming in my mind, but I didn’t have all the pieces to put it together.
When everyone gathered, we looked at the mist at the same time, knowing that Ronan was still facing the Avatar of Hatred. Everyone knew the battle would be intense, but it needed to end quickly. We couldn’t wait until that thing was completely unleashed. We couldn’t leave hidden enemies behind in a fight as clearly ridiculous as this.
“Sarazar and Lolth, you two are also Avatars, help Ronan as quickly as possible.” (me)
“Alright.” (Lolth)
“…” (Sarazar)
Sarazar just nods before advancing with Lolth into that strange mist. After that, I can’t even sense their presence. I don’t know what that mist was, but it even managed to block their Concepts.
Meanwhile, I look in one direction. It seems Hades is immobilized, staring at that thing in the center of space. I can sense his utter terror through our connection.
“Hades, return to Tarzor!” (Me)
“Sir, I can…” (Hades)
“No, you clearly can’t, now go!” (Me)
“Yes… sir…” (Hades)
Hades sinks into his own shadow. Like Nyx, he has a path through my Divine Realm that leads directly to Tarzor.
“(Samara!)” (me)
After Hades leaves, I mentally call out to Samara. Her focus on Anomalous power, her knowledge and use of Infernal power, as well as being my Saint, allows her to make a huge difference in this battle, especially if I release her seal when necessary.
“(Sir, I’m ready.)” (Samara)
I’ve made her stay hidden. I don’t want to reveal her presence until the right moment. I’ll do whatever it takes to survive this.
When Igor and Davoth were talking while I was organizing the others, I noticed their eyes on that thing. They know what it is, so I need to know too. I approach them, drawing their attention to me.
“Igor, what is that thing?” (me)
“Davoth didn’t tell you…?” (Igor)
“He just said it was a Fallen Lord of Chaos, but he didn’t explain anything else.” (me)
“We didn’t have time… we still don’t have time.” (Davoth)
“I don’t need a full lecture on this thing’s history and origins. Tell me about its characteristics, power, and possible weaknesses!” (me)
“…” (Davoth)
“…” (Igor)
Sigh
“Davoth probably knows more than I do, but as far as I know, it uses Chaos power, and by that I mean the Concept of Chaos itself, not the same as yours, by the way.” (Igor)
“Other than that, I know it has two forms and shifts between them. The one we’re seeing is just one of those forms. Other than that, I don’t know anything else that’s useful for now.” (Igor)
“Weaknesses, this thing must have…” (me)
“There are no weaknesses. It can’t be killed. Not even Callidora could kill this thing, which is why it was trapped inside.” (Davoth)
“Its two forms are the Spectral form and the Incarnate form.” (Davoth)
“Even if you wound it to the point of death or destruction, it will only change to the other form and so on; it cannot be defeated.” (Davoth)
I could see the discouragement on Davoth’s face as he said this. He was frustrated, and he clearly didn’t see how we could fight it, but I had a plan.
“Fine, let’s escape.” (Me)
“We can’t, but specifically, you can’t.” (Davoth)
“Why?” (Me)
“Power of Chaos, why do you think that thing is focusing its attention on you?” (Davoth)
“Even if you escape from here, it will pursue you.” (Davoth)
“No, it won’t, the System won’t allow it. This whole event has its hand in it, which is why Callidora sealed this entire space as an Infernal area, an isolated fighting ring to maintain the rules.” (me)
“But Callidora’s power doesn’t work perfectly with me. With my power, I can still open a way out not only of this isolated space but also of this Ascended universe.” (me)
“That… seems possible…” (Igor)
“If you abandon the universe, you won’t be able to return according to the rules. Then one of the Entities here will end up taking this universe and the others connected to it. Our fight would have been in vain!” (Davoth)
“Your fight, not mine. Vecna and Mavor are dead, or worse, Urak is in my hands. Urd has already marked the other Ascended. I no longer need to worry about these enemies. I’m sorry I can’t help you better with these thousands of universes, but I won’t die for this!” (me)
“The System will certainly not allow this Fallen Lord of Chaos to escape without punishing whoever released him…” (Igor)
I had no reason to fight here. I don’t care about this Event or Callidora’s rewards. Even if I want to help these universes, I won’t die for it, I won’t fight a losing battle.
While waiting for my power to recover enough to initiate my technique, I suddenly see the thing’s rings and shackles breaking, freeing its arms completely. Then it grabs the other restraints, trying to tear them from its body. I have a few more minutes at most to escape, and I’ve already made my decision.
“(I don’t advise you to run away…)” (Paradox)
“…” (me)
That’s when everything around me seemed to slow down, slowing down until it almost seemed to stop. Even my body was in this state. That’s when I realized that only my mind was racing.
In front of me, that woman appeared once again, wearing a cloak hiding her body. She was in the middle between Davoth, Igor, and me, but I knew she was actually just in my mind—a mental image, an illusion.
“(Paradox, what do you want!?)” (me)
I couldn’t move my body, much less my mouth, but I still had a mind, and I knew she was listening to my thoughts.
“(Don’t make a mistake, ask the system about Hell’s punishment for this case. Remember… Hell is manipulative by nature and knows you very well.)” (Paradox)
“…” (me)
“(The eye you have is mine. If you use it, you’ll be able to seal that thing, but you’ll need to regain your Chaos power to do so. I sense the Avatar beside you possesses something like that…)” (Paradox)
“(You planned this!?)” (me)
“(For me, planning itself is impossible; the Fallen Lords of Chaos are proof of that.)” (Paradox)
“(But I won’t deny taking advantage of the situation, which still doesn’t hurt you at all~~…)” (Paradox)
Having said this, she suddenly disappeared. She didn’t seem to be lying, but she didn’t like the way things were going.
“Zenos, what is it?” (Igor)
“System, tell me what Callidora’s punishment will be if this Fallen Lord of Chaos escapes this place!?” (Me)
“…” (Davoth)
“…” (Igor)
Ding!
