Chapter 1181: Real core of the ruins (3)
In the end, it was his Appraisal Eyes that was the real reason that she brought him here.
If it wasn’t for his Appraisal Eyes, perhaps Ye Qing Huan wouldn’t have thought to bring him.
But Lin Fan also couldn’t help feeling a bit interested.
Ye Qing Huan wouldn’t have said all of this for no reason.
Since she was so certain of this, it meant that there should be some truth behind her words. Not to mention that this was information that came from the Heavenly Demon Sect.
The Heavenly Demon Sect’s information certainly couldn’t be doubted.
But Lin Fan didn’t step forward right away as he started using his Appraisal Eyes on the barrier around the cave itself.
When he did, he found that there was something strange that came back.
???
This was something that he had never seen before.
Usually, it would either give him the information that he wanted or it wouldn’t give him any information at all as it would resist the Appraisal Eyes. This was the first time that Lin Fan was seeing these question marks being shown by the Appraisal Eyes.
What did that mean?
“It’s not resisting the Appraisal Eyes forcefully, but it isn’t letting me see anything?” Lin Fan thought to himself after a long period of thinking.
That was the only explanation that seemed to make sense in this situation, but it still felt strange for something like this to happen.
After thinking about it, Lin Fan still took a step forward towards the barrier.
In the end, his curiosity won over him and he couldn’t help wanting to take a look at this trial.
Ye Qing Huan didn’t follow behind him and she stopped Mu Bao Bao from following him as well.
After all, she knew that he was the only one that would be able to enter the trial.
The information from the seniors of the Heavenly Demon Sect had told her that if more people entered the trial, the difficulty of the trial would increase. As such, it was best if Lin Fan went in alone.
When he stood in front of the barrier, there were characters that suddenly appeared in the air.
“Do you dare take the trial of the most prestigious immortal?”
“Huh?” Lin Fan couldn’t help saying this when he read this.
He really didn’t understand what this meant, but it seemed like whoever had created this place thought very highly of themselves. It even seemed like they thought a bit too highly of themselves with the way that they wrote this out.
But it really wasn’t Lin Fan’s place to judge.
So instead, he just simply started walking towards the barrier.
When he came close to it, there was this hole in the barrier that appeared for him.
It seemed that even the trial itself was inviting him in with the way that the barrier opened for him.
Since it was this inviting, it should mean that there wasn’t that much danger in this place, right?
After Lin Fan entered the cave, he found that there was a mist that appeared around him. Right after the mist appeared around him, it covered all the area around him and he wasn’t able to see anything.
It was even hard to see his hands in front of his face with the way that the mist covered things.
That was just how thick this mist was.
Once he was surrounded by this mist, Lin Fan immediately raised his guard.
After all, he could tell that this mist wasn’t any normal mist since even his spiritual sense wasn’t able to penetrate through it. It was as if there was something inside of the mist that stopped his spiritual sense from passing through.
There was nothing that came from around him that told him what to do.
The only thing that Lin Fan could actually do was try to find his way out of this place.
But he also didn’t want to move blindly in this mist since there was no telling what was hiding behind the mist.
Even if Ye Qing Huan had told him that this place wasn’t dangerous, it just meant that the ones that had come here before hadn’t encountered any danger. That didn’t mean that there was absolutely no danger in this place since this place was a trial that was left behind by the owner of these ruins.
There was no telling what kind of tests would be waiting for him.
But in the end, it didn’t seem like there was anything that was about to show itself with how quiet it was.
Even if Lin Fan had his guard up, he couldn’t find a single thing around him.
It was as if he was the only one that was inside of this mist.
After thinking about it, Lin Fan finally decided to take a step forward. However, he didn’t keep moving in the same direction that he had been moving in previously.
Instead, he turned his body 90 degrees to the right and then started moving forward.
That was because while the mist hadn’t been that thick and he could still see, Lin Fan had been able to tell that he was in a small cave passage. He was in a place where he was surrounded by walls and a ceiling.
That meant that if he turned to the side like this, he should be able to reach the wall that was there. Once he reached the wall, the only thing that he had to do was turn back to the same direction as before and follow that wall until he reached something.
The mist blocked him from seeing what was there, but that didn’t mean that the layout of this cave had changed.
Or that should have been the case…
While he was heading towards the wall that shouldn’t have been far away from him, he didn’t find a single thing. Lin Fan had continued walking for several minutes and he still didn’t reach the wall that should have been several meters away from him.
When this happened, Lin Fan suddenly stopped and tried to regain his orientation.
But he found that this was hard since there wasn’t anything to go on.
Based on what he remembered, he should have reached the wall by now. Even if he was moving slowly, just a few meters was something that he could cover in a minute.
There was no reason why he shouldn’t be able to reach the wall.
Lin Fan looked forward with narrowed eyes as he did his best to find the wall that should have been there. It was just that no matter what he tried, he really couldn’t find a single thing since the mist blocked everything that he tried to use.
In the end, Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling a bit helpless…
“Host, do you wish to use the map function?”
Lin Fan was a bit caught off guard when he heard this before revealing a surprised look.
He had to take a moment to make sure that he had heard the right thing.
During this time, the system said again, “Host, do you wish to use the map function? Or do you want to continue walking around in circles?”
“Walking around in circles? What do you mean by that?” Lin Fan couldn’t help asking the system.
The system opened the map without even receiving a response and soon it showed the route that Lin Fan took.
A circle, that was what was drawn on the map.
The moment that he saw this, Lin Fan couldn’t help revealing a bitter smile. After all, it really felt like the system was mocking him with the way that it showed him this map.
But the system just calmly said, “Host, the system is here to help the host, not to mock the host.”
Only when it said this, it seemed like it was mocking him even more…
In the end, Lin Fan looked closely at the map and found that he was in the same place that he had seen before. It was just that it didn’t feel like it because of the mist that was around him.
“How is the mist confusing me?” Lin Fan couldn’t help asking the system.
“This mist works to confuse the senses of the one inside of it, making them lose all sense of direction. No matter how they try, they will lose themselves in the mist if they don’t have a way to guide them through it.”
“So why are you helping me now?” Lin Fan couldn’t help asking in a confused voice.
“This system was created to support the host in this new world. It’s just that the system has never really had a chance to be of help to the host with its abilities.”
When Lin Fan heard this, he couldn’t help giving a bitter laugh.
After all, he could have thought of many different times when he could have used the system’s help. Only the system had acted like a dead fish in all of those times and ignored him.
The system ignored him too this time even though he knew that the system could read his mind.
So in the end, Lin Fan just focused on the map.
He could tell that his senses were being manipulated now that the system had pointed it out, but it didn’t matter since there was the map. By following the dot on the map, he was able to see exactly where he was going.
As such, he was able to make it to the next location without a problem.
Only when he arrived…
“What is this?”
