Chapter 1348: Movement from the magic continent
Chapter 1348: Movement from the magic continent
The next morning, Lin Fan headed to the magic continent with Rokuko.
Though before leaving, it seemed like his advice from last night had worked.
It seemed like Huang Xie had done something that made Xiao Ming not as angry as before.
He was happy to see that his disciples were getting along, especially since he knew how Huang Xie felt about Xiao Ming.
Though it wasn’t as if he was going to get involved.
When they came through the portal, Rokuko didn’t waste any time in bringing Lin Fan up to the inn where Haku was waiting for him.
Lin Fan thought that they would have to go to the capital first before he was able to see Haku, but it turned out that she had been waiting for him the entire time.
“You’re finally back.” She said in a cold voice when she saw him which made Lin Fan confused.
It wasn’t the usual cold tone that she had, it was even colder than her normal tone.
But in addition to this, Lin Fan heard something strange in her voice.
It was almost as if there was a trace of blame and doubt that was in her voice.
He didn’t understand why she would talk to him in this tone, but there was a part of him that had a few guesses.
In fact, there was a part of him that was wondering if this matter was connected to another matter.
If it was, then it certainly would have explained the way that some other people had been acting earlier.
“Big Sister Haku…”
Rokuko only said her name, but the way that she trailed off at the end of it was more than enough to show what she was thinking.
Rokuko really was the only one that could make Haku reveal this kind of look.
After hearing the way that Rokuko addressed her, there was an awkward look that appeared on Haku’s face before she said, “You know that I have to ask this. I have my position to consider.”
Rokuko did seem like she understood, but she still looked at Haku with the same stern look.
Even if she did understand, that didn’t mean that she would back down on this matter.
So in the end, Agnus broke the tension by saying, “Your majesty, how about we listen to what Lord Lin has to say.”
Haku quickly jumped onto this with a nod and turned back to look at Lin Fan.
However, there was a strange look that appeared on Lin Fan’s face when he heard what Agnus said.
He had already had doubts when he heard the tone that Haku took, but now that even Agnus had this strange tone when she addressed him…
It seemed that something had happened on the magic continent during the time that he had been gone.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. I was just told that you wanted to see me.” Lin Fan saId in an honest voice in the end.
Since he didn’t know what was happening, it was best that he made sure that they knew this.
Haku and Agnus both had expressionless looks on their faces as they stared at him after he said this. Though it felt like there was a bit of pressure that came from them because of this, Lin Fan just calmly looked right back at them.
In the end, Agnus broke the silence by saying, “Young miss, I told you that he wouldn’t know anything about this. Your suspicions really were unnecessary.”
Haku looked like she didn’t think so, but it wasn’t as if she could do anything when she was being ganged up on like this.
Hearing this, Lin Fan confirmed his suspicions.
Though there were more questions that he wanted to ask because of this.
Haku took one last look at Lin Fan before saying with a sigh, “Give it to him.”
Agnus gave a nod before taking out a report that she handed over to Lin Fan.
Lin Fan didn’t hesitate to take this from her and look it over, but his expression changed the moment that he saw what was written on the first page. With knitted brows and a serious expression, he quickly read over the rest of the report.
When he was done, he couldn’t help asking, “Is this true?”
Haku said with a snort, “Do you think that we would be joking about this?”
That made Lin Fan knit his brows even more. However, he finally had the answers to the questions that had been in his heart the entire time.
It seemed like there was far more happening behind the scenes than he thought.
It was a good thing that he had come to the magic continent when he did.
If he handled this matter properly, then he would not only be helping Haku, but also the Heavenly Demon Sect. After all, this matter was without a doubt related to what his masters and the Heavenly Demon were hiding from him.
“How long ago did this happen?”
Agnus was the one that responded this time, but she didn’t answer the question itself. Instead, she stated something else that surprised him, “There will be a conference between nations in a few days to discuss this matter.”
Once again, Lin Fan deeply kitted his brows as he asked, “Has it really reached this point?”
Without saying anything, Agnus just gave a nod.
There was a silence that lingered in the room, but that was because Lin Fan was deep in thought.
It seemed like everyone here was focused on Lin Fan’s reaction.
Though that wasn’t strange since they already knew everything if they had prepared a report on this matter. What they were actually here for was to see if Lin Fan would give them any information.
However, there were things that Lin Fan had to put together before he could say anything.
“Are you sure that the other side was the one that showed aggression first?” Lin Fan broke the silence with this after a long time.
Both Haku and Agnus couldn’t help being caught off guard and revealing confused looks when they heard this.
But in the end, Agnus gave a slow nod as she confirmed this.
She didn’t know why Lin Fan was asking this question, but she was sure that he had his reason for asking.
“There’s some kind of disconnect.”
That was Lin Fan’s first thought when he saw her response.
After all, he had seen the way that his masters and the Heavenly Demon had reacted. The way that they acted was proof that they weren’t the ones that had aggressed in this matter.
Or else they wouldn’t have shown that kind of worry.
It was the kind of worry that one would show when there was someone attacking you.
So for both sides to be acting like this, it really didn’t seem to make sense at all. It meant that there was something hidden that Lin Fan didn’t know about.
It made sense since both sides didn’t have enough information about each other, but Lin Fan could find the disconnect immediately since he had information from both sides. He was able to find the things that were suspicious and immediately figure out that this was someone’s plot.
Since he was able to do this, he knew that he would have to do something or else it would be much more trouble than it should be.
If the two sides really were to clash over this matter, then it would become all out war.
For someone like him who dipped his toes in both sides, he naturally wanted to keep his investments separate. He wanted to keep the two worlds from clashing since that would make him lose his competitive advantage.
But at the same time, he didn’t want anything to happen to the people that he cared about from both sides.
So in the end, Lin Fan took a deep breath and said, “Can I come with you to this conference?”
This time, a faint smile appeared on Haku’s lips that made Lin Fan a bit uncomfortable. With this smile on her face, she said, “You were already scheduled to come even if you didn’t want to. You’re deeply involved in this matter, so it’s not as if we could leave you out.”
The definitive tone that she said this in made a wry smile appear on Lin Fan’s face.
After all, it really sounded like she would have found a way to drag him back here if he hadn’t appeared at just the right time.
Though Lin Fan didn’t know what kind of trick she would have used to accomplish this, he knew that she was fully capable of this. After all, she had already kidnapped him and Rokuko once before.
If it wasn’t for the fact that he had been able to buy a portal between the continents from the system, then he would have been trapped here the entire time.
Not to mention that if she had kidnapped him from the Heavenly Demon Sect, it would have caused a very large commotion.
It might have even reached the same level as the current commotion or even greater than that. After all, Lin Fan could guess what kind of things Ye Qing Huan would have done if he had disappeared from the Heavenly Demon Sect like that.
So it was a good thing that he had come in time to avoid this.
In the end, Lin Fan just gave a simple nod to show that he understood before turning to leave with Rokuko.
Before this conference, there was something else that he wanted to check on.
