“Calm down, Li,” Yu Dong tried to push the mer off her, not because she didn’t like the fact that he had jumped on her the second they were done dealing with Madam Lin and her family, who wanted to kidnap Yu Cai and their children.

But because she hadn’t taken a bath and Shen Li hadn’t dealt with his injuries. Even though he was not injured severely, it would be better to deal with his wounds first.

“I am calm enough,” muttered Shen Li as he pushed his wife on the bed and climbed on top of her before chasing after her lips again. Even though Shen Li knew that Yu Dong was back, he just couldn’t help but wonder if he was dreaming. For two years he had missed her warmth and no matter what he did, his fretful heart couldn’t calm down.

It was only now that she was back in his arms that Shen Li was feeling calm and relieved.

Everyone, including Xiao Hua, had seen Shen Li work hard these two years; the reason they could be wilful and their children could grow up safe and protected was because Shen Li was watching the family in Yu Dong’s place like a hawk.

He would be the first one to charge ahead when something went wrong.

Ye Liu beat someone? Shen Li dealt with it.

Chen Mi and Yu Jin had trouble while running the hotel? Shen Li was the first to beat the woman who tried to kidnap Chen Mi and kill Yu Jin.

Fang Chi messed up an order? Shen Li took the responsibility and apologised before dealing with the clients.

He even helped Xiao Hua, who was bothered by the clients when they heard that Yu Dong was no longer in the city and was missing.

Even the reason Sun Jie had gotten better was because Shen Li took care of him like a child. Sun Jie himself could forget about taking medicine but Shen Li? Shen Li would never.

He would feed Sun Jie medicine and even take care of his acupuncture sessions.

Even third uncle Yu recalled all his memories and got back to his feet, all thanks to Shen Li and his medical skills.

In short, he had done a lot of things for their family; thus, no one objected to letting Shen Li share the first night with Yu Dong upon her return.

They might feel a bit regretful and envious but more than that, they were not ungrateful!

Shen Li had fought tooth and nail for them; how could they not let him take comfort in Yu Dong? He needed it more than them after all!

Yu Dong also stopped struggling after she saw that the mer was trembling slightly while holding her. She patted him on the back and comforted, “I am really back.”

Shen Li’s eyes, if possible, turned even redder, and he severely bit Yu Dong on the crook of her neck, leaving a dark mark behind. What could he do? Even though he was guilty for doubting her, he was still angry at her for leaving him without even telling him.

He undid the robes that Yu Dong was wearing and looked at her with heavily lidded eyes. “Do you know how much I suffered? Everyone wanted to get a bite of our family; I had to take over your position. I was so scared!How can you just disappear without giving me enough time to prepare?”

His complaints burst as soon as he opened his lips after all—

Shen Li was indeed scared. He had been protected by his wife and he had never faced such dangerous situations before, but when Yu Dong left, he had no other choice but to face them.

It was as if he was a baby shrimp that was thrown into the vast sea to face the sharks. Every next day someone would want to snatch the business from him and if they failed, they would try to aim for the little kids.

These two years, he had been sitting on the edge that he didn’t even know it existed!

Even tonight, if he wasn’t too excited to sleep, then he was worried that he and the mers would have been ruined by those women. They had been keeping an eye on the guards and knew when they patrolled the backyard and when they moved to the front.

He was quite lucky that he caught them before anything happened. Even if the guards later caught them, he and the rest couldn’t have explained this matter even if they had a thousand mouths.

Fortunately, Yu Dong arrived and dealt with those women and sent them away.

Yu Dong felt sorry for him when she heard how he had suffered these past few years. She sat up straight and pulled him on her lap before kissing him on the eyes, his cheeks, and on the lips. As she kissed him, she didn’t forget to apologise for the things she had done.

Though she somehow managed to save the empire, she ended up letting her husbands down, which was enough to prove that she was still lacking in many ways.

“I am sorry.”

“Promise me, you will never do this again.”

“I won’t.”

“And you will have to play twice as much with our sons; they missed you a lot.”

“I will.”

“And you also need to bring our family to the imperial city; you promised that you would bring us there.”

“Of course I will.”

Shen Li breathed heavily as he looked down on his clothes that had been stripped down piece by piece until Yu Dong’s fingers were curled around his length.

He shuddered as those coarse fingers touched him. If not for the fact that he resisted, he would have come then and there.

The tears in his eyes turned into tears of lust as he questioned, “Did you miss me?”

“Of course I did.” Yu Dong confessed as she pushed the mer on the bed as Shen Li reached out and cupped her cheek.

His face bloomed into a beautiful shade of red as he muttered, “Then show me how much you missed me.”
