Chapter 2695: Pieces of a Monkey’s Soul

“It is faint but there is still a small part of the monkey king in it. Is it the intent to live on? Or something even more interesting?” Adrian stated as he changed his form to that of the Netheros and went to Limbo.

Adrian arrived in Limbo where his power over life and death are at its peak. This is a dimension where he is the owner. One could even call him the God of Limbo as he has direct access and authority in this place. Since the Twin Gods are not active right now, you can say that he is the God of Limbo currently as this is a special realm of life and death ruled by them.

“The Primordial Divine Beast Sun Wukong is said to be unable to die because he has erased his name from the Book of Life and Death. The most powerful artifact from the eastern continent underworld. Still, if he sacrificed his soul to seal the Primordial Divine Dragon Huanglong, he should have no traces of his soul left but this divine artifact is telling a different story.” Adrian stated as he burned the heavenly cudgel with his nether flames.

The already weakened divine artifact burned and melted until a peculiar jade colored soul appeared before Adrian. This jade color soul was incomplete and it was incredibly weak but the tenacity to live on was there. An incomplete soul that is filled with the power of the monkey king. Adrian was thinking of what to do when a quest suddenly appeared before him.

Quest Name: Revival of the Monkey King

Quest Difficulty: Special

Quest Description: The Primordial Divine Beast Sun Wukong managed to fracture some parts of his soul when he sacrificed most of it. This ensured that be will be revived just in case most of his divine soul perishes. The Primordial Divine Beast Sun Wukong is a being that can never be killed but it also means he can still be prevented from reviving.

Collect parts of his soul in order to create a new Monkey King. The one that managed to collect all remaining parts of the monkey king’s soul will be able to command the new monkey king as their servant. Since this new monkey king is from the fractured soul of the Primordial Divine Beast Sun Wukong, it will not have the power of the divine beast but will have the potential to become a divine beast.

Clear Condition: Collect Fractured Soul of the Monkey King (1 / 3)

Clear Reward: The Monkey King will either become a pet, mount, or summoned beast.

Failure Condition: Unable to collect all fractured souls.

Failure: The Monkey King will not be revived.

Restriction: This quest cannot be shared and can only be done by the one that collects one of the fragments of the monkey king.

“If I managed to collect all three then I would be able to have the Monkey King as my soulbound. This is great news!” Adrian thought as he already has an idea on where to get the two soul fragments.

Adrian has already sensed similar soul wavelengths when he was in his monkey king form. He did not become curious on it due to the fact that he was still in battle with the Primordial Divine Dragon Huanglong. He did mark the coordinates of where those beings were from but he still find it quite odd on how they got a fractured soul of the monkey king.

“One is attached to a human while the other is on a demonic beast. It was a good thing that I managed to take note of them since I thought they were suspicious.” Adrian muttered as he caught a glimpse of the two beings before they returned to their homes.

Adrian liked the idea that he can have the monkey king as a soulbound but did not like the fact that he needed to destroy the divine artifact to have that condition. It is actually a good thing that he was the one that could wield the heavenly cudgel and it did not get to the hands of the Primordial Divine Dragon Huanglong. If the heavenly cudgel actually got into the hands of the Primordial Divine Dragon Huanglong, then it might have found this hidden mechanic and revived the monkey king to be its servant.

Adrian could already visualize the absolute downfall of the eastern continent if both the Primordial Divine Dragon Huanglong and the monkey king were to join hands. They would have become unbeatable and the eastern continent might fall in a day or two. One could even say that the Primordial Divine Beast Sun Wukong placed one part of its fractured soul into the heavenly cudgel to avoid that from happening.

“I should return then. I already accomplished what I came to do here. I also need to prepare for my own ascension.” Adrian muttered as he vanished from Limbo to return to the mortal realm.

As soon as Adrian returned, he was greeted by Levin Cloud that is now looking like a dehydrated twig. He could be seen to have pushed himself too far from using the energy of the ley lines. Adrian could only slightly laugh at his best friend but he also congratulated him in his own growth. They now have more knowledge on how they can merge worlds as that is their ultimate goal as of now.

It is not just Adrian that greeted him but three rather peculiar individuals came as well. Adrian is actually shocked that they came to greet him because they were enemies before. The three are none other than Tai, Vixen, and Tama.

“Greetings, Demon.” Tai stated.

“Hello to you too, Oni.” Adrian stated.

The two of them greeted each other but the tension between the two created a heavy atmosphere. The two stared at each other and could already feel it. They had this blood connection to each other and this feeling that they slightly dislike each other. Adrian did not think that this would happen but it seems that blood really does carry generational trauma.

Tai feels dislike towards Adrian but the latter actually feels indifference. It is not their feeling towards each other as an individual but the emotion carried in their blood. Adrian can feel it as Daemos blood carry a peculiar aura that can help them distinguish one another. It can also help them feel which one carries the blood of demon. This branches out even to those that are a descendant race to demons.

“Why are the both of you suddenly in the mood to hit each other?” Peridot asked as she could feel the tension between the two.

“It is not like that. You can say that it is some sort of blood generational trauma. The Oni race is a descendant of a Daemos that has been exiled.” Adrian stated.

“I feel the same. Please do not take offense as it is merely the game’s settings.” Tai replied.

“Do not worry. If I was to take offense from that then I would have killed all of the Daemonios. We are rather passive to those that share some of our blood. Passive until they start to destroy the world but passive nonetheless.” Adrian stated.

“Can you please get to the point? I do not like being stared at by these people.” Vixen complained but the stares are due to the fact that they were previously enemies. The only reason why no one is after their head is due to the fact that they actively killed Chiyou and the other fallen enemy gods.

“Sorry about that. I came here to seek sanctuary and forgiveness for the people that have defected from our previous organization.” Tai boldly stated.

“If that is the case then all of you have proven your worth. If they really held a grudge then none of you would have been standing here right now. Also, I am not the one you should talk to regarding that. There leaders of the factions that guard the eastern continent are still here. You should go speak to them and offer your apologies because I cannot speak for them.” Adrian stated in a direct manner as well.

“I see. I thought you were leading all of them hence I wanted to talk to you. I will not apologize for battling you though because I am still bitter than you have defeated me thoroughly. If there is a chance for us to fight in the future then I will surely win next time.” Tai stated as he did see that everyone heeded the words of Adrian when the latter said that they should return to their homes.

“You need to get stronger then and I will also anticipate that as well. There are few that can make my blood pumping after all.” Adrian stated with a smile as he partially showed his battle junkie side before returning to his calm and collected face. Tai and the other excused themselves and proceeded to talk to the Grand Masters and the Murim alliance Leader.
