Chapter 2701: Thor Versus Valkyries

“I shall show you your place Valkyries!” The God of Thunder Thor shouted as he called upon lightning to strike down.

“SCATTER!” Brunhild commanded as all of the Valkyries did scatter as they avoided the lightning strikes that the God of Thunder Thor called upon.

The entire area became incredibly chaotic as lightning would come down in different intervals. The lightning itself is not that heavily damaging but the fact that it can strike instantaneously is worrying. If one of the Pegasi are hit by the lightning, both it and the rider would come spiraling downwards as a result.

The worst part is that if one is struck by lightning then it could even attract the other lightning bolts to surge towards you. The saying that lightning does not strike the same place twice is irrelevant when the God of Thunder Thor is present. He made sure to interweave all of the lightning bolts that come down from the storm clouds that he has summoned.

The God of Thunder Thor himself is at the middle of the maelstrom and is perfectly controlling the lightning storm. He also makes sure that Asgard itself is not affected as any lightning bolt that would hit the barrier would dissipate before it happens. This precise control over lightning is what made the God of Thunder Thor but it also needed quite a bit of his concentration and divine sense.

“Hmmph!” Brunhild exclaimed as she almost got a hit towards the God of Thunder Thor with her silver spear.

The God of Thunder Thor managed to detect the killing intent of Brunhild at the very last second. It was none other than his pure battle instinct honed from the countless years of wars that he participated in. Still, Brunhild is not just a demigod level Valkyrie for show as she managed to actually brush past the God of Thunder Thor ear to scratch it.

“You were close!” The God of Thunder Thor stated as he then coated his weapon with lightning and swung it towards Brunhild.

Brunhild could not deflect or defend against the sudden counterattack of the God of Thunder Thor which is why she used the artifact given to her by her goddess. A silver ring activated from her fingers which instantly deployed a barrier that released a rainbow-colored light like the aurora. This barrier managed to perfectly defend Brunhild against the attack of the God of Thunder Thor but she and her steed were sent flying back.

“I commend you for almost taking my head. As expected, it seems that you have also became fiercer in battle, Brunhild. Still, that is all that you have accomplished because you cannot defeat me as you are now.” The God of Thunder Thor stated as a taunt but even he admits that his drop in strength also affected his battle awareness by a large degree.

“Enough talk because you will die here. I will make sure of it as well as my sisters. Sisters!” Brunhild shouted as another artifact activated for her which is her girdle.

The artifact on Brunhild’s body activated and the girdle connected her power to that of the other Valkyries. She managed to share the aurora-colored barrier to all of her sisters which made them safe against the lighting that is pouring down. The God of Thunder Thor also noticed this which is why he called upon more lightning to pour down but noticed that a group of Valkyries casting a spell to delay lightning from appearing.

“You forget, thunder god. The Valkyries are not just warriors but magic warriors. We are the beings that the Goddess Freyja created and she is also a goddess of magic. Sisters, attack!” Brunhild commanded as the Valkyries started their assault against the God of Thunder Thor.

The God of Thunder Thor suddenly found himself surrounded by the Valkyries as each of them charged in a coordinated manner. If the God of Thunder Thor is about to catch one of them off-guard, another Valkyrie will suddenly attack to disrupt him. The coordination of aerial combat against mounted warriors like the Valkyries is astounding as they moved in sync and perfect unison.

The prowess of the Valkyries in aerial mounted combat is second to none as they have practiced years to perfect it. Even the God of Thunder Thor admits that the dedication and talent of the Valkyries are something that can defeat him. Still, the God of Thunder Thor is a god even if he got weakened from acting outside the designated area of Asgard.

“I am the God of Thunder!” The God of Thunder Thor shouted as the magic that prevented his lightning bolts from reaching his enemies suddenly erupted as he used more divine energy compared to previously.

The lightning exploded which blew away the Valkyries preventing the formation of storm clouds. The immense divine energy that the God of Thunder Thor poured made a large curtain of lightning rain down from the dark clouds above. Most of the Valkyries got struck by lightning and were pushed down even though they were protected by the barrier.

The God of Thunder Thor also clad himself in lightning to enhance himself even more but he once again lost sight of Brunhild. Just as the God of Thunder Thor is about to turn, he once again sensed the killing intent but he was unable to dodge as quickly as before. A spear suddenly pierced the left upper chest of the God of Thunder Thor which made him squint in pain.

“Tch! It is not deep enough!” Brunhild stated as she tried to pull out her spear but the God of Thunder Thor suddenly gripped it tightly.

“You are not going anywhere! To think that you have another artifact with you that could obscure even my own divine sense. You have prepared well but even that cannot save you from me.” The God of Thunder Thor stated as he released a powerful burst of lightning from his body which traveled towards Brunhild’s spear and towards her body.

Brunhild screamed in pain as she got electrocuted by divine lightning called upon by the God of Thunder Thor. Despite the pain, she gritted her teeth and tried to pull her spear out. The spears used by the Valkyries are like their second life and losing it would mean they will lose a lot of combat power. She needed to retrieve her spear no matter the cost as this is a weapon bonded to her soul.

The God of Thunder Thor then raised Mjolnir high as he attempted to finish off Brunhild like this. He knew about the weapons of the Valkyries as it is one of their lifeblood. This is why he did not let go of the spear even though he is also bleeding from the wound. The God of Thunder Thor believed that sacrificing his arm will be worth it as long as he destroys the commander of the enemy.

“This energy!” The God of Thunder Thor muttered as he hurriedly released a bust of divine lightning to knock himself away from Brunhild.

A spear with aurora colored energy swished passed the God of Thunder Thor. The spear did not stop as it suddenly hit the barrier around Asgard. The spear was just one weapon but it made a crack on the powerful barrier of Asgard that did not even get damaged despite the combined attacks of the Valkyries earlier. This spear is quite different from the other spears of the Valkyries that has a sleek look as it is decorated with roses and thorns.

“Freyja!” The God of Thunder Thor stated as he looked towards the source of divine energy that he felt.

The God of Thunder Thor thought that the Goddess Freyja descended but he is actually wrong because it was Frey using the divine energy in her body. She has yet to use Goddess Descent but she has already managed to use the immense divine energy that has settled in her body when she was chosen as Freyja’s Vessel. She can now use a weakened version of the abilities that she has when she uses Goddess Descent.

“It seems I was mistaken. It is her chosen warrior that has come instead of her. Still, I am certain that she is watching this battle unfold now.” The God of Thunder Thor stated as he actually almost lost his head if he did not act quick enough.

The divine energy used by the Goddess Freyja is potent enough to kill the God of Thunder Thor if he is hit directly. She was a goddess of life but she can also be considered as a lesser goddess of death. It is also one of the reasons why even the God Odin himself is wary of her because she can do a lot of things that he can as well.

“Brunhild, we must retreat.” Frey stated.

“We have him cornered.” Brunhild stated as she could see the God of Thunder Thor losing blood.

“He has started to act as well.” Frey stated as he pointed at the large magic circle appearing above Asgard.
