Chapter 2718: The Gods are Wary

The gods that were staying in the sidelines suddenly became afraid that they might be next. The death of two divine beings came that easily without any problem. Unlike when just their physical avatar is destroyed, the death of the two Asuras is considered as true death. They have died with their divine bodies and soul descended into the mortal realm.

The gods that have grown arrogant from power due to having not enemy suddenly started to think for themselves. They have now gotten a preview of what is to come should they flaunt freely and make enemies. The gods that descended using their entire being are now afraid because there is a being that could kill them permanently. Due to this, many of the gods started to convene in a shared divine realm where they discussed on what to do.

“This is unacceptable! The demon killed two gods from the southern continent! He must be dealt with divine retribution.” One of the gods from the southern continent stated with anger.

“Divine retribution? What is your justification on why the Mediator of Death needs to be dealt with divine retribution?” One of the gods from the central continent stated.

“You! You are just saying that because you are afraid of him and want to be in his good graces! You are basically under that demon! All of the followers of the two that were killed are now in a catatonic state with some being unable to wake up for at least a month.” The previous god from the southern continent stated.

“I guess those mortals just worshipped the wrong gods then. It is their fault for being weak.” One of the gods of war stated and he was clearly annoyed because he was the one chosen to come to this meeting. Only representatives of each faction came here even if they did not want to because the gods of the southern continent were kicking up a fuss.

“Our leader justified that the Mediator of Death has done no injustice.” One of the goddesses of justice stated which suddenly made the declaration of the representative of the southern continent gods irrelevant.

“How can I believe that when even you have your biases!? Do you not think that we did not know that the demon is owed by your faction!?” The representative of the southern continent gods stated.

“Watch your tongue! We do not owe favors as the law must be just and balanced. You called us all here when the world is already chaotic because of what the Asgardian gods have done!” The representative of the gods of justice stated.

“Well, I am more interested in how the Mediator of Death killed those two gods anyway. The mediator is not one that stirs up trouble when it comes to the gods because he dislikes troublesome things. He even rejects the requests of the Gods of Death themselves as what we were told by Lord Ares. Tell us, why did the Mediator of Death kill those two?” The representative of the gods of war asked which suddenly made the representative of the southern continent gods feel immense pressure.

“We were not told that those two will move that is all. Still, the balance of the world is at stake as those two carry the burden of holding parts of the cosmic chain!” The representative of the southern continent gods replied.

“It is clear that you are withholding information from us. Since it was clearly war that happened, shall we see the battlefield from the perspective of the Mediator of Death?” The representative of the gods of war stated as he snapped his finger to reveal an aerial view of Avalon.

The representatives then watched what truly happened and they immediately had their suspicions validated. The projection showed them Bhasmasura creating a flaming sword and smashing it towards the barrier that protected Avalon. It was then the demons appeared before the ones that dared to attack their territory. They even saw the Mediator of Death asking why his territory was attacked but the two Asuras did not even engage in conversation.

They then saw Elder Ascalor trap the two in different dimensions which shocked some of the gods. They did not expect that a demon can trap gods that easily but what they saw next is even more puzzling. Fleets of airships and seafaring ships destroyed by one demon while the other two vanished. They also saw Adrian moving towards the northern part of his territory as there was another threat.

They then saw the divine beings that attacked from another front but they were all handled by the Mediator of Death. Unlike what happened to the two Asuras, the Fomorians were able to escape but they sacrificed their entire army in the process. It was then Adrian returned to Elder Ascalor’s side and entered the other dimensions. After entering, they noticed that two demons returned but no Asura. It can only mean that the two Asuras died and got wiped out in the other dimension.

“As you can see from what we have observed, it was those two that attacked Avalon. Do you know that all of us here agreed to never attack the sanctuary of the demons? It seems that all of you southern continent gods have isolated yourselves for too long that you even forgot to never offend the demons.” The representative of the gods of war stated.

“Even so! The Mediator of Death should have at least destroyed just their divine body! Their divine souls should have been spared as mercy and as a sort of punishment. We would like an explanation from the gods of death themselves when they clearly could have stopped him from destroying them entirely!” The representative of the southern continent gods stated.

“It seems that the southern continent gods do not know this. I should say it to all of you here then to have a better perspective. The two Asuras attacked Avalon which is the territory of Mediator Equinox. It was not a battle that the two sides decided to partake but a surprise attack which meant he can retaliate all he can without any prejudice.

Do the southern continent gods forget that there rules even in war? It was those two that triggered the attack in a surprising manner so it should not be surprising that the territory lord can eliminate them permanently. I hope that none of you forget as well that Mediator Equinox is also the Lord of Limbo.

He is a being that walks between life and death. A being that controls the boundary of the world of the living and the dead. It also means that he is part of the rules that govern both mortal and divine. Am I right, representative of the gods of justice?” The representative of the gods of war stated.

“What the representative of the gods of war stated is true. The Mediator of Death is also bound by our rules since he is the Lord of Limbo which means he killing the two without incurring the wrath of the divine laws means it is justified.” The representative of the gods of justice stated.

“Two of our factions have stated what we believe in. Do you have anything more to say, representative of southern continent gods? We still have other agendas needed to be discussed.” The representative of the gods of war stated as they were clearly very busy due to the sudden unlocking of factions.

The gods of war are actually working overtime because of the factions coming to light. They are the ones organizing every rule there is when it comes to wars involving the gods. They were so overworked that they all wanted to destroy the Asgardian gods but the major deterrent is the fact that the God King Odin also descended. A High God that can rival other God Kings is not something they can take on lightly.

“The gods of the southern continent will not take this humiliation lightly! All of you better beware of what is to come!” The representative of the southern continent gods stated before storming off.

It is not like the other gods are not afraid of Adrian because they are. A being that could grant true death to a god is often eliminated early by other gods. This is the first time that the decision is divided but there is also no decision to never go against him. What the gods of war and the gods of justice are saying is that any action done by the mediator will be justified as he is just fighting back.

If they could kill Adrian then good for them as they managed to do so but they should not ask other factions for help. The gods of war and the gods of justice are basically saying go ahead but we will not get revenge for you if you get killed. Also, the gods of each faction are also tense because war against each other could happen anytime. Only when meetings like this could they ease up as it is considered as neutral ground.
