Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System

Chapter 862: Several Steps Ahead

Chapter 862: Several Steps Ahead

[A few minutes before leaving the Cave – Kent’s POV]

“Wait for me outside,” Kent said to Adina, who nodded and walked out of the cave.

“Alright, time to get to work.” Kent took out some items he had purchased from the tower. With a tower that could get him almost anything, he saw an opportunity to make sure whoever follows their trail experiences a world of pain.

⟦I have to ask, master, what makes you think anyone would be able to pick up your trail and come here?⟧

Kent laughed. “You are still a green tower. Why do you think I fought those bastards? I did that just to leave my aura there.

Naturally, I could have used the [Rule Breaker] to cancel out my aura there and do the same for Adina. However, I chose to fight them with the main goal of leaving our aura behind.

Now, if you are looking for someone and see a battlefield, the first thing you would do is sense the various auras and follow the ones that got away.

Naturally, I know someone will come, and I intend to make them aware of who they are following. I wouldn’t want to make them think I am just some greenhouse flower.”

Kent smiled and started setting things up.

It took him a few minutes to set everything up.

Then he walked out of the cave.

Outside, he formed a hand seal, and a formation appeared over the mountain and slowly enveloped it.

“Let’s go.” Kent retrieved the small flying boat, and they hopped in.

[Before the Explosion]

Kent was directing the flying boat toward Lightning Peak, where they planned to stay for a few hours, perhaps a day, before continuing their journey.

Though their journey to the Lightning Peak was a smooth ride, he knew things would soon be chaotic, so he wanted them to have a much-needed rest before anything.

Suddenly, Kent slowed down the boat and smiled.

“Got your ass.”

The formation he had left around the mountain had just moved, and while he couldn’t see the person who had come, he felt the presence.

“Since you managed to pick up on our trail, then I can only slow you down for a few days.” The smile on his face turned evil.

“I really hope you are not standing at the center of the cave.” With that, Kent snapped his fingers, and several miles from them, it went boom.

[The Explosion]

The wandering demon swordsman, thanks to his arrogance, entered the cave with no care for who was waiting for him.

He was a level 2 Heavenly Ascension stage cultivator, so fearing someone he was told was only at level 3 Spirit Lord stage was just not something he planned on doing.

So he entered with his shoulders high, suspecting nothing.

He looked around but saw nothing.

However, just when he was about to use his senses like he should have from the start, he was already at the most dangerous impact zone.

He had no time to raise his defense, so the blast landed on him and sent him flying.

[Post Explosion]

The wandering demon swordsman landed hard on a large rock, shattering it upon impact. An agonizing pain erupted from his mouth.

The blast and impact were both painful, and judging by the cut-off leg, he would need a couple of days, perhaps a week, to regrow it.

As someone who has already formed a spiritual core and a Spirit Root, he could regrow body parts; therefore, he would need to expend some energy to regrow his leg.

“This bitch, I will be sure to cut your body into many parts even if it means I fail this mission,” the wandering demon swordsman said, sitting in lotus posture, and started cultivating.

“Fuck… I have to deal with the poison first.”

His anger boiled over, driving him to get things done much faster, so he would chase after Kent and Adina, whom he planned to kill in the most agonizing way possible.

[12,000 Miles Away from the Explosion Site – The Green Fang Mercenary Group]

One of the mercenary teams from Planet Menelaus was making their way through the valley when an explosion echoed several miles away from them.

“Was that an explosion?” a stone-faced demon asked.

“Definitely. I extended my sense several miles in that direction and felt the shockwave. We should check it out,” a dwarf with one horn on his forehead, wielding an axe, said, causing his team to nod.

“Team leader, what if it were a battle between two powerful beasts?” one of them asked.

“Relax, Dane, the explosion was enough to kill a Spirit Lord at the 5th level, so of course I wasn’t asking for us to get close to where the explosion happened.

We can scout and see if we can find any clues that will point us in the right direction.”

“Okay, leader.” They started moving in the direction of the explosion.

Naturally, this was all in Kent’s calculation.

When he left his aura behind, he made sure the only person who could sense it had to have a powerful sense.

This means he took into account the main person he planned on running from, namely the level 2 Heavenly Ascension stage cultivator, who would sense it.

Then he also made sure the explosion would do more than hurt the person. He wanted the explosion to be heard thousands of miles away and to draw the attention of all kinds.

At the moment, there were only two outcomes, and one of them was that the person who triggered the explosion died, which Kent knew they didn’t because he received no tower points.

So, since that wasn’t the case, then it could only mean the person still lives and is probably pissed.

Now, the outcome that somebody heard the explosion and came looking will come and meet a level 2 Heavenly Ascension stage cultivator who is probably angry and wants blood.

The rest will resolve itself.

“Why are you smiling?” Adina, who had been quiet on the trip, suddenly asked, looking at the smug smile on Kent’s face.

Kent turned and looked at her. “Let’s just say our biggest problem has been delayed for a few days. This adds to our advantage, and I plan on taking advantage of that to get far from here.”

“So your explosion worked.”

Kent wasn’t surprised when he heard her question. After all, she is a Spirit Lord; a mere trigger formation couldn’t escape her sight.

“Something like that. Now, we just have to get as far away as we can from this scum before using him for what I planned on using you for.”

Adina looked at Kent weirdly. “What were you planning on using me for?”

“Bait.”

“What?”

Kent smiled. “Don’t overreact. Where we are going has a Level 8 Spirit Lord. I planned on using you as bait to catch it. I had all plans set, and the risk level was one you wouldn’t have worried about.”

Adina bit her lips, a murderous look in her eyes as she looked at Kent. “What was the risk?”

Kent smiled, “Just 70%, but a 30% success rate is one I see as an absolute win.”

“You—”

Adina pointed at Kent, frustration bubbling in her eyes. However, she smirked and turned away from him, unsure if she could hold her anger if she kept staring at Kent’s face.
