Chapter 901 - 901: The ‘Last Forsaken Divine’ III
“Withered!”
To understand the reason for Evan’s shout, a little snippet of the Skill Description for Gravilife Convergence was needed.
|4. Withered Debuff: Enemies caught within the grasp of Gravilife Convergence are afflicted with the ‘Withered’ debuff, causing them to continuously leak out their life essence even if they manage to break free from the grip of the earthy fists. |
Now then, if one had powerful purification powers, they could remove this debuff, but Evan could just apply it again.
Rezaemon’s divinity flared and he broke out of the earthen fist, his eyes blazing with fury, but Evan’s Frostborne Colossus was behind him with its blade raised.
The Forsaken Divine swung his blade in a wide arc, slicing the construct in two before it could attack, but Evan wasn’t done bombarding him with skills.
“Hydra!”
Three serpentine dragons burst out from the ground around Rezaemon and though he jumped to avoid them, they followed him like a plague.
He spun around and released a circular slash that severed their heads, but Evan only laughed and spoke once more.
“Hydra x 10!”
“?!”
Rezaemon didn’t know the full mechanics of Evan’s abilities, but he could certainly imagine what adding an ‘x10’ would do.
He immediately dashed in the direction of the hole in the roof just as the dragons burst out from the ground and dashed towards him at supersonic speed.
Beatrix stopped Rezaemon in time and made the dragons pass through her wormholes, letting them reach him instantly and the serpentine dragons spewed their breaths of frost, ice and destruction essence just as Rezaemon returned to normal.
As the 30 serpentine dragons engulfed Rezaemon in a storm of devastating energy, Evan let go of his sword, letting it hang in mid-air. Horns emerged from the crown of his head to amplify his magic power as he called out.
“Akashic Page.”
The grimoire responded to his call and high up in the sky, massive spell circles manifested, layered with intricate patterns and symbols.
But as the grimoire’s magic power rippled outward, the air around the Akashic Page warped, bending and twisting and cracks tore through the fabric of space. From them, lightning surged out.
Evan’s eyes widened as the bolts struck the ground just beside him, leaving a scorch mark. He realized then—it hadn’t missed him. It hadn’t been meant for him at all.
It was meant for the grimoire.
But Evan’s presence as an Irregular who bent balancing laws made causality’s lightning bend off course.
Evan had come from the future, and he held the future Akashic Page.
It was isolated in his Inventory, but upon bringing it out, the Universe detected it and it reacted.
As of Year 1054 of the 50th General Calendar, the Akashic Page had not been torn out of its source, the Cosmic Artifact known as the Akashic Record, which was still in the hands of the Race King who would go on to reveal Kayla as the Star of Lightning’s rogue consciousness.
The laws of time—and causality—were not about to let a paradox occur due to the existence of two identical cosmic objects from different time periods.
Evan didn’t need to comprehend the law of time to realise this, so he acted as fast as he could so he could throw the grimoire back in his Inventory.
For a moment, Evan thought about his Mystic Eyes and why the laws of time had not tried to destroy his eyes since an identical pair existed somewhere on Aidos, but now was not the time to think of this.
He had to kill Rezaemon first.
“Pseudo-World Magic Imitation: Spell Number 13: Judgment of the Gods!”
The spell that had defeated Dominik Velak blazed to life once again, and a beam of searing energy shot down, tearing through the writhing dragons and striking Rezaemon who was bitten by them.
The powerful magic power pounded against him for a relentless ten seconds, the chamber filled with the crackling sounds of pure magic clashing with divine resistance.
When the beam finally ceased, Evan tossed the Akashic Page into his inventory and released a breath of steam from his lips.
He grabbed his sword and prepared to press the attack when suddenly, a series of thunderous roars echoed through the chamber.
The trio spun around to see three Forsaken Divines figures hurtling through the doors, throwing swirling wind vortexes and unleashing beams of divinity at them.
Without hesitation, they moved to take these nuisances out.
Beatrix swung her spear and used Spatial Rend, carving through one creature in a clean arc, the strike erasing it from existence.
Artemisia followed, her Tempest Avatar cleaving through another with a surge of lightning that incinerated every last fragment.
Evan used Hollow Magic to obliterate the final creature in a blast of non-attributed magic, reducing it to nothingness.
But as they turned back, the sight they met froze them in place.
Rezaemon stood before them, his body shifting in a grotesque display of regeneration. He reached out with monstrous, clawed hands, seizing two of the fallen Forsaken Divines that had come in from other doors.
He drew them toward him and broke their bodies down into raw matter that he absorbed into his own flesh, providing mass to replace the damaged portions of his body.
His skin squirmed, flesh bubbling and rippling as if trying to accommodate the additional bulk.
The three teenagers charged forward, intending to stop him from completing this process.
Evan used Factor Mimic and five Holograms, charging in from every angle, Beatrix used her Everlasting Chains and Time Magic to restrain him while Artemisia commanded her Tempest Avatar to stab down with its blade.
All the attacks hit Rezaemon at the same time, the storm of power shaking the dome-like chamber to its core.
The Forsaken Divine burst out of the smoke and flames while coughing blood, but despite having interrupted his healing, he had regenerated a good chunk of the damage Evan’s World Magic did.
Evan teleported and used World Sunder, catching the still reeling Rezaemon and cutting through his chest, the blow deleting a swatch of protective magic the Forsaken Divine had activated.
Crimson blood spilt from his body, and the destruction essence prevented him from healing.
‘Fuck, I need to replace my mass!’
But Rezaemon knew that Evan and the other three wouldn’t let him absorb any other Forsaken Divines again—that was a one-time thing.
Unless they were swarmed with an army of other Forsaken Divines, they wouldn’t allow him to absorb any of them.
Rezaemon staggered, but only for a moment. With a growl, he slammed his foot into the ground, trying to steady himself, but Evan was already moving again.
“Gravilife Convergence!”
The ground beneath Rezaemon cracked open, and a singularity formed behind him, pulling at his massive frame. Rezaemon’s feet shifted as the gravitational pull grew stronger, dragging him backwards.
From the cracked earth, a gigantic piece of stone burst forth, wrapping around Rezaemon’s body and squeezing with immense force, fracturing his bones with an audible crack.
“NGUARGH!!!!”
Rezaemon roared, his voice booming through the chamber. But it was not a roar of pain.
In a brilliant flash of light, he broke free, shattering the stone with a burst of divinity and sending shards of rock flying in all directions.
He controlled the rocks with his earth magic and sent them hurtling towards Artemisia, before turning to catch the mouth of the Hydra that came in from behind.
The other two spewed frosty breaths of crimson gold ice and Beatrix’s Partial Blades shot towards him in that same instant.
But they were under the hole in the dome and like the first two times, Rezaemon called down a pillar of light—moving faster than Evan who was mid-slash could do anything about it.
***BOOMMM!!!!
The entirety of the abandoned Divine Human factory shook fiercely, and divinity surged from the point where the pillar descended, sweeping through the chamber like a shockwave and hurling the three teenagers against the walls.
Rezaemon, despite his wounds, dashed towards Beatrix, his great sword glowing with light magic as he slashed through the air in a blinding air, aiming to behead her in one go.
She twisted her body, barely avoiding the blade, but Rezaemon wasn’t finished. A second swing, faster than the first, cut through the air toward her.
“Beatrix!”
Evan teleported in just as Rezaemon’s sword slashed through Beatrix’s left hand, leaving a deep, searing wound that made the teenage goddess gasp in pain.
Her spear dropped and golden blood spilt from her hand.
Before she could think of rewinding the wound to heal, Rezaemon was already on her again, his speed still almost too fast to track.
But Evan and Artemisia were faster in that moment.
Lightning flashed in Rezaemon’s vision and Artemisia, her eyes cold, appeared before him, unleashing a point-blank beam of lightning directly at his face.
Simultaneously, Evan’s fist slammed into Rezaemon’s side, the impact sending a shockwave through the chamber. The force of the blow knocked Rezaemon off balance, giving Evan a precious moment to act.
He summoned a juice pack from his inventory, throwing it toward Beatrix. The pack hit her injured hand and burst open, the healing liquid splashing over her wound.
Beatrix blinked in surprise, but the potion—in a strawberry juice pack—worked instantly, the pain receding as her hand began to heal.
Evan and Artemisia didn’t stay to see the result, though.
As soon as he threw the juice pack, the two turned back to Rezaemon and moved. Evan used Space Warp and Artemisia’s feet turned to lightning as she cut through the air, moving at a speed that caused her body to groan under the stress.
She summoned her Tempest Avatar just as Evan’s uppercut slammed into the Forsaken Divine’s jaw, commanding it to punch downwards and slam the man’s body down back to the ground.
Not stopping there, she commanded the avatar to wrap its enormous arms around Rezaemon in a crushing embrace, and Evan immediately guessed what she was up to and did the same.
Rezaemon struggled, but the avatars held him firm, and simultaneously, Evan and Artemisia commanded.
“EXPLODE!” “Detonate!”
**KABOOMM!!!
The explosion rocked the chamber, a brilliant burst of lightning that enveloped Rezaemon like a mini-sun.
Just when they thought they had knocked him down for the count with that one, Rezaemon barrelled out from the heart of the explosion, his body glowing with powerful light magic.
“What kind of messed up Raid Boss are you?! You can fucking regenerate! Why do you also have healing magic!”
