Chapter 1113: Granny Nola
Chapter 1113: Granny Nola
After giving himself a fright about the time issue, Xu Feng followed the path that led to Forgefire Blacksmith.
"Okay, good! It’s still there." He heaved a sigh of relief when he spotted the blacksmith was still there. Moreover, there didn’t seem to be any changes to the exterior layout.
What made him realize he was indeed overthinking was when he finally spotted the familiar villagers.
"Hello, Granny Nola." He waved his hands and approached the granny.
"How come I didn’t see you selling your usual specialty near the gate?"
Granny Nola was one of the villagers whom Xu Feng was familiar with. Her specialty food granted a very decent buff to them, so he had patronized her quite frequently on behalf of the Vanguard Guild to supply to his members.
She usually had her stall set up just a few meters away from the gate to give out some of her food to the warriors. The warriors were the brave men who hunted in the wilderness to gather food to provide to the villagers.
Thus, many villagers like Granny Nola would offer them free food for support and to have some insurance that they would be safe and sound.
"Haha, so it’s our savior!" Granny Nola was initially startled by an approaching man. But soon, she flashed a warm smile when she recognized Xu Feng.
"I was told by the younglings to not set up the stall because of the dangers. Sigh, these younglings all went to venture at a tender age, and now they’ve returned in full force." She shook her head and sighed.
"Hmm?" Xu Feng raised an eyebrow.
"Are they not the new generation of the village?" He asked in confusion.
He had thought there was a time lapse occurring, given the advancement in the structure and defensive utilities.
Could he have been wrong?
But how does it explain all these sudden leaps of advancement and improvement in security measures?
"Haha, I see that you’ve been mistaken." Granny Nola giggled. "They are the new generation of our village. You didn’t get to see them previously because they have all gone on adventures in a discovered ancient ruin."
Realization quickly dawned upon Xu Feng.
"Ah, so all those new upgrades were found in the ancient ruin?" He clasped his hands and exclaimed.
"Mhmm, but I heard that not all of them could be used because of the complexity. Granny is too old to understand, so I just pass the time by taking a walk. One can never stay at home for too long, or they will really become old."
Nodding in agreement, Xu Feng sincerely accepted her advice. Nevertheless, there were still some doubts in his mind.
If these new generations had returned fruitful from their adventures. Why were they still behaving cautiously?
It can’t be that they brought back some ominous items and began to attract a particular dangerous monster, right?
That would be too cliche and predictable!
A few minutes later, Granny Nola bid him farewell and continued with her walk.
Xu Feng made sure to give a slight bow in respect. Even though she may be an NPC to most players, to him, she was a respectable granny. After all, she had given him multiple great discounts when purchasing her specialty in batches.
Not to mention, her genuine concerns for the villagers, especially the younglings, were commendable.
How many people in the real world actually hold such genuine emotion and care for their own offspring?
Maybe there were a lot! But from Xu Feng’s perspective, there was none. He was abandoned and became an orphan.
If his parents didn’t want him in the first place, then why did they give birth to him?
’Forget it! It’s best not to sour my mood.’ Xu Feng ultimately shook his head and discarded those useless emotions once again. Only money was absolute, whereas family love was nonexistent in his dictionary.
With that in mind, he continued to advance toward the blacksmith.
"Come on, Master Thorin! How much longer do we have to wait for the repair?"
"The monsters are going to arrive anytime soon. If my weapon isn’t fixed by then, we’re going to be in big trouble."
"We don’t want to rush you, but the situation is really urgent!"
Almost immediately, Xu Feng could hear the new generation, or the returned generation, echoing for Thorin to complete their request.
Their voices were frantic, but they still held a lot of respect for Thorin. Needless to say, the situation that Willowbrook Village was facing must have been something the returning generation had concealed.
They claimed it was a monster wave, but it shouldn’t cause them to be so anxious.
While Xu Feng was pondering, a loud voice finally burst forth from inside the blacksmith.
"Aish, you youngsters only know how to rush this and rush that as soon as you return!" Thorin Forgefire, who was the father of Fiona Forgefire, came out of the building and yelled thunderously.
"If you want to fix your equipment quickly, then why don’t you do it yourself? Or even better, at least assist me in heating up the iron or gathering the necessary material to complete the fix!"
In the blink of an eye, the crowd went numb in silence.
They kept their heads low, clearly ashamed of their action after getting scolded. Naturally, they understood their unreasonable request for speed and efficiency at the same time.
However, the danger was looming closer, and they needed to be fast.
Their facial complexion was mixed with anxiousness and uneasiness. They didn’t dare to reveal the truth, lest it cause widespread panic.
While they kept the information a secret, Thorin snorted coldly when he witnessed the youngsters’ reaction. With his keen perception, how could he not know these youngsters were hiding something?
In fact, the elderly and veterans all knew something was up the moment these youngsters returned to the village with so many new, advanced tools.
Right at this moment, Thorin suddenly spotted another annoying youngster from a distance.
"Hmph, what are you doing here?" He called out, his eyes staring straight at Xu Feng.
If looks could kill, then Xu Feng seemed to have been killed hundreds—no, thousands of times.
’Now what did I do this time?’ Xu Feng twitched his mouth.
